Merkaela is a seasonal subscription box that aims to make your self-care & spiritual practice easy to experience. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Each quarter Merkaela delivered a beautifully curated collection of their all-natural health and wellness products that are made on-site with ingredients you can pronounce and know. They are made with you in mind and formulated to nourish your body, your mind and your spirit.

Each collection is built on a theme and includes wellness products, thought-provoking content and music — everything you need to be on your way to a holistic approach to a clear mind, body and spirit.

Merkaela is committed to sustainability and craft all of their products responsibly. This means they minimize their carbon footprint by making eco-friendly and recyclable packaging choices for their products and for shipping materials, they ethically source their product ingredients from all over the world and they also donate a percentage of their proceeds to water infrastructure and environmental programs.

Subscription Details

There are several Merkaela subscription options with differing budgets in mind:

• Soap Box: $28/quarter or $24/quarter if paid annually 
Includes 3 soap bars made in small batches with organic oils infused with herbal botanicals and essential oils.
• Herbal Body Butter / Oil: $30/quarter or $26/quarter if paid annually
Includes 1 handcrafted Herbal Body Butter or Body Oil (2 – 4 oz) made with organic oils.
• Smudge Stick Box: $20/quarter $17/quarter if paid annually
Includes 3 sacred smudge sticks (sage, palo santo, etc.) to support your spiritual practice.
• Essentials Wellness Box: $48/quarter or $40/quarter if paid annually 
Contains 3-5 items and supports your meditation practice.
• Deluxe Wellness Box: $96/quarter or $88/quarter if paid annually
Contains 6-9 items and includes products for both your self-care rituals and meditation practice.

Shipping is not included and is an additional charge. Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska is an additional $10 and to Canada is and additional $20 to cover the extra shipping costs. Current quarterly subscriptions ship in March, June, September & December. New subscribers will be shipped the current box (if it’s not sold out) with in a week of subscribing.

Here’s a look at what’s in the winter Merkaela box:

Box Insert

The box insert is always so helpful and informational. In the included envelope is the insert itself which shares the theme, an inspiring quote related to the theme, product names, product usage and information, product pricing, an affirmation and a link to the seasonal meditation. The envelope also includes a card that has the link to the meditation on it as well as a little wallet sized card with the affirmation on it too, which this season is: “I am grateful for my body, mind, and spirit. I appreciate how it serves me. I am taking time for the self-care and nurturing that I deserve.”

Nourishing Cyrpess Body Butter ($48.00)

“Invite your imagination for a walk in a lush green forest. The Nourishing body butter provides skin deep hydration and new cell growth. Beneficial to all skin types, deep healing on dry cracked skin. Apply to the body to improve problematic skin and promote cell repair. Use the Nourishing body butter on dry skin, stretch marks, blemishes, cellulite, mild burns, eczema flare-ups, rashes, bruises, insect bites and to keep skin infections at bay. The Calendula licorice herbal extract-infused oils such as Shea & Jojoba, will further deepen your botanical experience. Providing the body with hydrating nourishment and essential nutrients it craves at the deepest levels.”

This is such a lovely and rich body butter. It looks almost solid at first but it softens and melts into skin right away. I just love the captivating herbal aroma it has. It has so much depth with hints of wood, evergreen, florals and a hint of crisp sweetness making it such a grounding and fresh aroma. I can’t stop smelling it. I appreciate all the uses this body butter has and it’s skin healing properties are a must have for winter skin problems.

Charcoal Handmade Soap ($9.50)

“Experience the Great Woods with the aroma of Pine Needles, Cloves, and Bamboo Charcoal. While the Pine charcoal soap absorbs, draws out oils and impurities from the skin. The Bamboo activated charcoal makes this bar soap an excellent choice as a facial cleanser and a popular go-to for the bath or shower.”

As always, the chosen soap bar is fantastic. The warm, spicy and earthy aroma of this one is a perfect match for chilly winter days. I appreciate that this bar has the addition of charcoal for skin detoxing benefits. I like the idea of using it as a facial cleanser (and the aroma would make for a nice refreshing experience), but I’ll likely use this one in the shower.

Spicy Chai Herbal Tea ($8.50)

“Slightly spicy and sweet, chai tea is an ayurvedic medicine for the body, mind, and soul. The sweet cinnamon, the fruity cardamom, the biting ginger, and the spicy black pepper celebrate the various flavors that blend perfectly in this infusion. You can drink it black, or you can add milk for a creamy flavor. Consider decocting this blend traditionally: Simmer the Spicy chai blend with milk and black tea over sustained heat versus adding pre-heated water for an infusion. Be sure to strain the botanicals from your drink before sipping.”

I really love chai but don’t often drink it as it’s usually not caffeine free and I don’t drink caffeine so I’m really excited to find this herbal version in this quarter’s box. It smells absolutely delicious. It’s warm, spicy and sweet and if the aroma tells how it will taste, it’s sure to be a tasty cup of tea. I really like the idea of adding some kind of milk or maybe coconut cream for an extra cozy treat. I can’t wait to try this one!

Ardor Meditation Elixir ($18.50)

This elixir brings and instant calming feeling with it’s crisp aroma. They describe it as spicy, I’d almost say it’s more of a clearing scent with a hint of a medicinal aroma and not in a bad way, but just in that it’s very herbal and not sweet. I really like this one and truly felt a calm come over me when I smelled it’s aroma. I’ll be using this one a lot when I need to find centering.

Evergreen Forest Salt & Herbal Soak ($14.00)

The mineral-rich nutrients and herbals such as magnesium, calcium, and passionflower, combine to make a natural detoxifier. What a perfect bath soak for the winter season. It’s been constant sniffly noses over here so a decongesting bath sounds like such a treat to calm the sinuses and the body at the same time. It has a sweet and crisp aroma that’s actually pretty potent, but I’m sure that means it will do what it claims to do. I mean, I almost feel like I have cleared sinuses from just smelling it from the jar. I like that it’s not a nose burning scent either, but just a powerful aroma to make breathing easier. I don’t wish for more stuffy noses, but I do want to try this asap!

Merkaela Deluxe Box Review Winter 2022 – Final Thoughts

I just love Merkaela every time it comes! The products they create are always so beautiful and made with such healing ingredients. Oh, and the aromas, I just feel like they are masters at creating aroma perfection. Each is so unique, purposeful, enjoyable and perfect for the current seasonality. Everything included in this season’s box had feelings of crisp forests, cool herbals, evergreen plants, and warming spices – what else says winter better?! I appreciate that the ingredients chosen help heal winter skin issues, warm the body from the inside out, clear breathing passages and soothe the senses too. Winter is often a bit harsh and these products will certainly soften it’s edge. The season can be such a drag in it’s slow pace and short, but long days so this little self care package is a welcome treat to brighten and bring focus to this season of stillness.
