Oceanista Review Winter 2019

Oceanista is a seasonal subscription box filled with a selection of beach-inspired apparel, jewelry, skincare products, flip flops, beach accessories & other handpicked beach boutique essentials. They kindly sent us this box for review.

As I look back at 2019 and reflect on all the boxes I discovered, reviewed, and had the pleasure of working with, Oceanista is one that sticks out the most. They have been shipping since July 2017 but I feel like they really came in to their own this past year. It has become one of my favorite boxes to receive and I have a feeling that they will continue to be a favorite as we go forward. If you aren’t currently a subscriber it’s definitely one to keep an eye on.

My Oceanista box looks a little different this month. You may have noticed that the items are packed in a brown mailing box instead of the pretty Oceanista logo’d box. But don’t worry, it’s only temporary. They included a little note with the box this month letting subscribers know that they are in the process of updating their current box and are only using this in the meantime.

Here’s a closer look at the items we received in the Winter 2019 Oceanista Box….

Classic Knit Beach Hoodie Poncho ($35)

This winter season every Oceanista will enjoy our Classic Knit Beach Hoodie Poncho. It is warm and soft and perfect for a day at the beach or at a bonfire this winter season.

First up we have this gorgeous poncho. I LOVE the look of it and the best part is…… it will fit me now (baby bump and all) and it will also fit me later. It was available in four different colors – Sand, Stone, Sunset and Slate. I received slate, but the problem is……I want ALL the colors. Annual and VIP members were able to select their color which is an awesome little perk for long-term subscribers. It is one size fits all up to XXL. They offered a different style (see next item) for Curvy Mermaids.

Paisley Beach Wrap

Here’s a peek at the gorgeous beach wrap that curvy subscribers would have received in place of the poncho. I love it just as much as the poncho so either way you are going to receive a lovely fashion item in your winter box.

Abalone Capiz Shell Ornament ($14.97)

We are so excited to have Amy featured in our Winter Box! Amy is the epitome of an Oceanista. The natural environment she resides in provides her the lifestyle every beach girl dreams about. Every subscriber will receive her handcrafted beautiful driftwood capiz shell ornament in their box. Perfect for your Christmas tree this Winter.

Ok….I am loving this ornament! I think it’s perfect for a couple of reasons. It fits with the overall theme of the box (beach boutique delivered) and it also fits with the season/time of year. I love that they managed to find a beach themed item that is also perfect for the holidays. And the best part is…..even if you don’t hang it on your Christmas tree you can still enjoy it’s beauty as it can be used as decor in your office, bedroom, bathroom, etc…..

Genuine Sea Glass Stud Earrings ($28)

Remember that lovely Seaglass pendant necklaces from last Summer? Well we had Katie from Lani Makana handcraft matching seagrass stud earrings for you! Woohoo! Each pair is made from genuine sea glass and are unique and one of a kind.

I remember the seaglass pendant well. It sits at the front of my necklace collection because it is so darn pretty.

These gorgeous little stud earrings are absolutely perfect because you all know I love sub box items that complement each other and these will go perfectly with the seaglass pendant. I believe they were available in different colors. I received a dark blue set.

Hair Flower ($5)

What’s a Hawaiian girl without a flower in her hair! Bad hair day? Put this plumeria flower in your hair and feel so pretty all day long.

What a cute little hair accessory! Perfect for the summer, beach vacays or just because. It would look so cute with a loose braid.

Beach Life is the Best Life Pillow ($34)

A pillow featuring a hand-guided flat chain stitched “Beach Life is the Best Life” hand lettered sentiment and braided jute rope trim by artist Philip Chapman. Complements well with coordinating design pieces for a great beach decor collection.

Love, love, love this pillow. I already have the perfect spot picked out for it. It’s neutral which makes it great for most decor schemes and the design/style is simple.

Aloha Youth Serum ($58)

A luminous serum made with a select blend of Hawaiian botanicals. Designed to hydrate, smooth, brighten and tighten. This carefully curated blend will boost skin’s immunity by providing the nutrients needed for a youthful glow. A unique formula that penetrates easily into skin delivering concentrated nutrition, leaving skin fresh and dewy.

First of all, can we talk about this packaging?! It is so dang cute! I love the bottle, the brown box and the white floral detail.

I also love a good serum. My daily skincare routine involves a quality serum, face oil and eye cream. I’m almost out of my current serum so this arrived at the perfect time. I did a little research and it appears as though this serum gets great reviews. The smell is a little strong but I am definitely looking forward to testing it out.

Hawaiian Aromatherapy Body Lotion ($16.99)

An ultra-rich moisturizer with unparalleled texture, viscosity and absorbability. Loaded with organic herbs, oils and concentrated additive ingredients, scented with premium essential oil and fragrance blends. 70% organic, 99% natural, 100% vegan and phthalate free.

If you like coconut you will LOVE this body lotion. It smells just like a trip to the beach. I applied a little to the back of my hand. It absorbed nicely, wasn’t too thick (or too thin) and it left my skin feeling soft. It would make for a great everyday moisturizer.

Hawaiian Aromatherapy Candle ($12.99)

Beautifully scented Coconut Milk Gold Tin Candle to fill any room with the essence of the islands. Hand-poured natural soy wax with lead free wicks. 10% of net profits go towards protecting wildlife in Hawaii.

This candle pairs perfectly with the lotion as it smells exactly the same. I’m thinking about displaying both of these on the white wicker tray I have in the guest bathroom as they would look so pretty sitting beside each other thanks to the matching labels.

Oceanista Review Winter 2019 – Final Thoughts

What a gorgeous box! I was wondering what Oceansita would come up with for the winter season seeing as the overall theme for the subscription is summery/beachy. I’m happy to report that they stayed true to themselves while incorporating just the right amount of winter/holiday vibes. The beautiful ornament and cozy hooded poncho are perfect for the holiday season. The skincare items bring with them all the beach vibes. The earrings complement a jewelry item from a previous box and the pillow is the perfect decor piece for my reading chair. I expect great things from Oceanista in 2020 and have a feeling they will continue to be a favorite.
