Here’s a closer look at the May Simple Loose Leaf tea box….

Four Corners Black Tea

“A blend of Assam, Darjeeling, Yunnan, and Keemun black teas. When you first open this tea, the scent will be very mild and subdued. You’ll smell a slight hint of dry oak leaves in the fall. But when you brew this tea, it comes alive with notes of honey, caramel, and leather.”

Ingredients: Assam, Darjeeling, Yunnan, and Keemun Black Tea

This tea absolutely smells like fall… and while I don’t want to miss any bit of summer, I’ll happily drink a tea that reminds me of my favorite time of year!

Fujian Oolong

“You’ll find a nice woody, roasted aroma with this tea but also look for a slight honey flavor when sipping.”

Ingredients: Fujian Oolong

I love love love a tea that I can make multiple cups from and still have an excellent flavor! This tea is produced through a sun drying process that just seems to lock in flavor even after a third cup. Oolong teas are always so flavorful – definitely do not pass on this one.

Dragonwell Green

“Dragonwell Green, the literal translation for Longjing Tea, is a flat style leaf that is fired shortly after being picked. The firing stops the oxidation of the leaf and maintains a delicate and slightly sweet flavor profile.”

Ingredients: Organic Lung Ching Green Tea

This tea was downright polite; It was just so delicate and light. I found I had to be very mindful during the steeping process to get the perfect cup – which in a time of my life where my attention is pulled in every direction, it was lovely to just quietly make this tea in the morning and give it my full attention to have the perfect cup.

Berry Chamomile

“Offers a classic herbal chamomile base paired with some fun citrus notes and a hint of berry sweet. Brew this tea hot in the evening to help get to sleep or brew cold to help cut the heat of the day.”

Ingredients: Chamomile, Orange Peel, Hibiscus, Raspberry Leaves, Safflowers and Berry Flavor

When I opened this tea out of the Simple Loose Leaf box, I immediately said “Fun!” to absolutely no one. It is a tea that is absolutely wonderful cold and smells like a summer day. I just loved the citrus notes and I can’t wait to share this one with my friends!

Simple Loose Leaf Review May 2022 – Final Thoughts

This month’s sampling of teas was a wonderful selection of teas! Perfectly curated for the season and offered a lighter selection. As always, I appreciate that Simple Loose Leaf includes steeping instructions or recommendations in their box and on the packaging. This month included a recipe to make oolong iced tea – which I made immediately and perfectly might I add!
