OMG! I can’t even put in to words how excited I am about this subscription box! The Innocent Baker is a new discovery and I am so dang sad that I didn’t know about it sooner.

The Innocent Baker has been shipping since December 2017. How on earth am I just hearing about it now. Here’s a little something about me that you might not know. I am a baker. And when I say baker….I mean B.A.K.E.R! In fact, my niece Mackenzie could say “cake” before she could say “auntie”. That right there should tell you just how much I bake. I also use to own a little wedding cake/cupcake catering business. Oh how I miss those days. Any who……it should come as no surprise that I am beyond excited about a Canadian Gourmet Baking Box! Let’s dig in…..

Essential Baking Tools

Each month The Innocent Baker includes a special surprise that will assist you in bringing your baking creations to life. This month we received a cookie cutter set and a Russian piping tip set. This adds a ton of value to the subscription box, for me personally. I have a baking tool box and with each The Innocent Baker box I will be able to add to my collection.

What We Need to Purchase

Each month we are provided with a small list of items we will need to provide. This month we need eggs, whipping cream, butter, lemon and carrots.

I keep eggs, butter and lemon in my fridge most of the time so I only needed to purchase carrots and whipping cream.

Recipe Details

The recipe was organized nicely, complete with numbered steps and photos. It also tells us the prep time (30 minutes) and the baking time (23 minutes). I found it easy to follow, with a total number of 8 steps. Here’s the overview:

  1. grate carrots, prep oven and cake pan
  2. make cake batter
  3. bake cake
  4. prepare frosting
  5. place frosting into the piping bags
  6. layer the frosting for the flowers
  7. cut cake and frost cake
  8. pipe frosting flowers

Here’s a peek at the finished product. It worked out perfectly because I received the box on the 17th, I made the recipe on the 21st, and I served the cakes at Easter dinner on the 22nd. PS – Everyone LOVED the cake, and I’m not just saying that.

The Innocent Baker Review April 2019 – Final Thoughts

All I have to say is WOW! I am so unbelievably impressed with my first The Innocent Baker box. It’s more than I was expecting. It’s a baker’s dream (novice or pro) as it is organized so beautifully. I love that all the ingredients are portioned as this saves me time. I love that we only need to supply a few staple items each month as this means I need to keep fewer items stocked in the pantry. I love that the recipe was easy to follow and included photos. I love that it provided me with a fun dessert just in time for the holiday, and I LOVE that we also received some essential bakings tools. My little baker’s heart is so darn happy right now. The Innocent Baker is, without a doubt, a new favorite subscription box!
