A Merry Christmas by Louisa May Alcott

“A Merry Christmas collects the treasured holiday tales of Louisa May Alcott, from the dearly familiar Yuletide benevolence of Marmee and her ‘little women’ to the timeless ‘What Love Can Do’, wherein the residents of a boarding-house come together to make a lovely Christmas for two poor girls. Wildly popular at the time of their publication – readers deluged Alcott with letters demanding sequels – and drawing on Alcott’s family and experiences in the abolitionist and women’s suffrage movements, these stories have the authentic texture and detail of Christmas in nineteenth-century America, while their emphasis on generosity and charity make them timeless embodiments of the Christmas spirit.”

Swag Bag

The swag bag contains a magnet, bookmark, and bookplate all designed according to the theme of the box.

8×10 Art Print

Gorgeous print with a quote from the book!

“The power of finding beauty in the humblest of things makes home happy and life lovely.” – Louisa May Alcott.

While You Read: Hot Chocolate on a Stick

Such an interesting concept! Not a fan of drinking milk chocolate, so gave this to my husband who really enjoyed it.

There is also a cute wooden bookmark “Just one more chapter”.

Story One: Cinnamon Sugar Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Some yummy chocolate pretzels to go with the hot cocoa. I already have these from the children’s Christmas box, and am very happy to see more of it.

Story Two: The Greatest Gift

“On the night before Christmas, a mysterious stranger saves George Bailey from a moment of despair by giving him a precious opportunity to understand the difference that his unassuming life makes to those around him and to the world.”

If you’re thinking this story sounds familiar, it is because this book inspired the classic holiday movie “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

Story Three: Handmade Artisan Soy Wax Candle

Gorgeous scent with notes of pine, clove, and cranberry, appropriately named “Christmas Morning”.

Story Four: DIY Lip Balm Kit

The only thing better than getting a lip balm…is getting one that I can try making myself! This sounds like such fun and I can’t wait to give it a try.

Story Five: Old Fashioned Holiday Candy

Hard candy in assorted flavours of spearmint, wintergreen, and lime.

Story Six: Red Boughs + Berries Cloth Napkins

A set of two gorgeous napkins! I really love the red botanical print.

Story Seven: Winter Wonderland Card Set

I’m not too sure what to do with these, my friends and family stopped exchanging physical cards for the past few years now. The print is so pretty though! Seriously considering repurposing them as bookmarks or journal cards.

Final Thoughts

This has to be my favourite The Literary Book Box yet, everything is just so thoughtfully put together from the books chosen to each gift and how they are individually wrapped. I imagine getting someone one of these boxes as a gift would be absolutely amazing – it’s like getting 10 gifts in one! It is no wonder these limited edition boxes sell out fast. Highly recommend picking one of these up the next time it is offered.
