The Literary Book Club Review June 2024

It’s the most wonderful time of the year 🎶 even though it’s not Christmas yet, it sure feels like it whenever The Literary Book Club shows up on my door.  I could hardly wait to tear into it when I saw the gorgeous box waiting for me.

The Literary Book Club Subscription Details

The Literary Book Club is a quarterly subscription that costs $74.99 per quarter, plus $11.95 shipping to the US.

Each themed box contains a gorgeous collectible edition of a classic book, plus a selection of thoughtfully curated gifts to add more magic to your experience. Each gift in the box arrives beautifully wrapped and numbered with page numbers to open as you read.  It’s quite special.  You can expect to receive a variety of useful lifestyle items, self-care luxuries, items bibliophiles will adore, and other lovely surprises.

Joining the Literary Book Club Box will also get you exclusive access to their private book club Facebook group for subscribers, where you can discuss your experience of the classics with other literary fans. Inside the group, you’ll find great conversation, and bonuses like giveaways that are available just for subscribers.

The box is packed meticulously, something about the kraft crinkle paper, the stunning calligraphy, and the extreme detail of the wax seal always makes my heart skip a beat!  It’s so elegant and intriguing, don’t you think?

The Book

Inside the card, the book for the month is revealed. This month’s book is “The Enchanted April” by Elizabeth Von Arnim. This is a story of four mismatched women who respond to an advert in the times offering a beautiful medieval castle to rent on the Italian Riviera. They arrive on the tranquil Mediterranean shores full of hope for a heavenly escape. Tensions mount between the group at first but as the idyllic spring days tick by, each is slowly transformed by the warm sunshine and unexpected company.  It sounds like a delightful read, I haven’t read it before – but I will definitely be enjoying it poolside this month (pretending I’m on the Italian Riv!).

The book itself is always a custom-printed collectible. I am thoroughly obsessed with the purple color theme of the June box and am in love with the beautiful fore-edge painting. The attention to detail is unmatched when it comes to The Literary Book Club. I wish I could be a fly on the wall to see how their team dreams up these designs! They’re always so lovely.  It’s worth mentioning that all of the books that The Literary Book Club prints are perfect to display as gorgeous home decor after you’re done reading them. Dress up a corner of your bookshelf, or stack them on end tables for a one-of-a-kind conversation piece.

Each box also includes a little swag bag that goes along with the book. It includes a bookmark, bookplate, and sticker. I’m really loving the floral pattern they’ve gone with for this season’s box. The colors, the flowers – the faux linen background – it’s all such a vibe.

The Gifts

Part of what makes The Literary Book Club such an experience is the way that they wrap and number each of the gifts inside the box. Each gift goes along with the book in some way, and you can choose to either unwrap them all at once or enjoy each one as you reach the page number associated with the book.  I really love how this prolongs the unboxing experience, but I’m never patient enough to wait until I reach the corresponding page number. 🙂

While You Read

Every box includes a special treat to enjoy while you read.  This month they included two treats! The first is a loose-leaf Lemon Ginger herbal tea – perfect for a single serving.

The second “while you read” treat was right up my alley – Le Specialita Italiane hard-filled candies! I absolutely love limoncello (and anything lemon) and that’s exactly what these little candies remind me of. They’re not super tart, they’re softly sweet, with a gel-filled center.  I loved them!

Page 11

Once you get to page 11 you’re invited to open the first page numbered gift. This was a beautiful, custom printed passport holder!  It’s printed in the same floral pattern that they’ve used throughout this box, and I couldn’t be more excited about it!  It’s said that when you get a new passport holder, you have to take a trip – so, I’m dreaming up my next international adventure!

Page 52

On page 52, it’s time to open the next gift found inside a purple velour pouch (love this one!).  It contains a mini artisan candle by Amalfi with a scent profile of sweet orange, sparkling lemon and tropical foliage.  It smells wonderful and it’s almost too cute to burn.

 

Page 231

The next gift was a super fun surprise, a wildflower-printed makeup eraser!  I’m obsessed with this one because I use these makeup erasers every single day – and I LOVE them. BUT, I’ve never seen one in a cool print like this! They’re always pepto pink so this pattern is a fabulous alternative!  If you’re new to makeup erasers they’re a nice eco-friendly option because they’re reusable and washable. You don’t need any soap to remove your makeup with these. I love them for stubborn mascara. Just add water and it easily wipes away all the mascara in one or two swipes. Magical. Toss it in the washer to clean it and you can reuse it for years.  Love this one.

The Last Page

Once the last page has been read, we have our final gift this one is such a treat!  it’s a custom acrylic book vase! Have you seen these before?  I’ve seen them on Instagram, but haven’t ever owned one myself. This one is printed to match the June book, and it stands up in your bookshelf like a book, but it’s a vase. You can add water and real flowers, or fake flowers if you don’t want to mix water and books.  I think it’s just so pretty and I can’t wait to use it!

Art Print

The Literary Book Club always includes an 8×10 art print in each box as well. This season, we received a quote that says, “This was the simple happiness of complete harmony with her surroundings, the happiness that asks for nothing, that just accepts, just breathes, just is.” -Elizabeth Von Arnim.  Such a beautiful quote that gives me goosebumps. Isn’t that what we’re all striving for?  These art prints are so fun because you can dedicate a frame to the prints and switch them out each quarter.

The Literary Book Club Review Final Thoughts

I always enjoy unboxing The Literary Book Club and the June box was no exception. They do an amazing job of bringing the book to life and creating a literary journey through the gifts they include. If you love classic literature, you don’t want to miss this one. It’s often sold out, but as of this writing, there are still a few June boxes available!  It’s unheard of.  So, if you loved this box as much as I did and want to get your very own, head there now and subscribe before they sell out.
