Here’s a closer look at the September Adult Unplugged Book Box….

The September 2020 Unplugged Book Box theme is Transformation.

The back of the product card lists all the items in the box. The products tie in with different fandoms, TV shows, and books.

And we always receive spoilers for upcoming boxes……how good do both of these look?!

When No One is Watching by Alyssa Cole

Sydney Green is Brooklyn born and raised, but her beloved neighborhood seems to change every time she blinks. Condos are sprouting like weeds, FOR SALE signs are popping up overnight, and the neighbors she’s known all her life are disappearing. To hold onto her community’s past and present, Sydney channels her frustration into a walking tour and finds an unlikely and unwanted assistant in one of the new arrivals to the block—her neighbor Theo.

But Sydney and Theo’s deep dive into history quickly becomes a dizzying descent into paranoia and fear. Their neighbors may not have moved to the suburbs after all, and the push to revitalize the community may be more deadly than advertised.

When does coincidence become conspiracy? Where do people go when gentrification pushes them out? Can Sydney and Theo trust each other—or themselves—long enough to find out before they too disappear?

Dreamcatcher Eye Mask

Dreamcatcher by Stephen King shows the theme of friendship and the transformation an entire town as an alien invasion occurs. This eye mask is perfect to use while sleeping, or you can freeze the gel insert to use to soothe headaches and migraines. It is an Unplugged exclusive designed by Alyese’s World.

Ohhhh…..I’m yet to hear of Dreamcatcher by Stephen King. I used to be obsessed with his movies and as a tween/teen I watched them ALL! And I’m loving that this eye mask is a multitasker. Use it alone or with the gel insert.

Gilmore Girls Scarf

Gilmore Girls is a beloved TV show about a mother-daughter relationship. Throughout the series, we watch the trials and tribulations of Rory & LoreLai. Each passing season shows us their inner transformations as they grow as individuals. This scarf is an Unplugged Exclusive by Azura Arts.

Don’t you just love Gilmore Girls?! And this scarf is bringing back so may great memories from the series that I am feeling the need to watch it again.

The Name of the Wind Candle

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss is a magical tale that delves into the themes of persistence and transformation. Kvothe uses revenge to prove himself. This exclusive candle was made by Natural Pure Honest. Wood wick candles can be tricky – so make sure to use properly.

This candle has the most amazing fall scent. I can’t quite read the name on the label but I know it includes apple and I am also picking up a rich, sweet scent. Maybe a bit of caramel?

Persephone Lotion

Persephone is the greek goddess of vegetation. After being tricked into eating pomegranate seeds by Hades, she is forced to live a third of the year in the underworld. This lotion is an Unplugged exclusive by the Fairy Hideout.

This lotion is absolutely lovely. The scent is pomegranate and it is so unique. I love the size of it as well. Perfect for my travel bag.

Jane Austen Tea & Diffuser

The Dashwood Sisters from Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen are young and unmarried. The story touches on many themes including gender roles, money and judgement. This tea is an exclusive by The Simply Bookish Co. and comes with a unique tea strainer.

Tea and books go together like peanut butter and jelly. I don’t know about you but I can’t sit down to read without a cup of coffee or tea beside me. It just doesn’t feel right. This tea is a wonderful mixture of rosehip, lemongrass, peppermint and orange peel.

Unplugged Book Box Review September 2020 – Final Thoughts

I am so unbelievably happy to see another thriller featured in Unplugged Book Box. They also featured a thriller in the July box and it was one of my favourites reads this year. I haven’t had a chance to start reading the September book yet but it gets great reviews. Readers were impressed with how the author incorporated relevant issues into the story making it a great pick on Unplugged’s part. In addition to that they really took the book in to consideration when curating the bookish goodies which was wonderful to see. I’m excited to curl up in my favorite chair and get to some reading!
