Vellabox Review August 2024

It’s that time again! My August Vellabox arrived and I’m excited to show you what was inside. Before we dive in, can we take a moment to appreciate how Vellabox always manages to find the perfect balance between scent and surprise? They really know how to keep us on our toes!

If you’re new to Vellabox, it’s a monthly artisan candle subscription that includes a selection of featured scents each month and a full-sized surprise item.

Vellabox Subscription Details

Vellabox offers three different subscription options:

• The Lucerna Box · One 4 oz candle (25+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $12/month
• The Ignis Box · One 8 oz candle (50+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $22/month
• The Vivere Box (that’s mine!) · One 16 oz candle (80+ hours total burn time) + one surprise gift from $29/month

All of the candles are Artisan made in small batches with natural ingredients, including 100% natural wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate-free scents – so you can breathe easy. Because they’re Artisan made, you can discover a new small brand with every box.

You’ll take a questionnaire when you first sign up where you’ll indicate your favorite scents. Vellabox will use this info to make sure you’re getting the scent profiles you love most.

Monthly, 6-month and 12-month subscriptions are available. Shipping is free on all US orders and shipping to Canada is $5/shipment.

Unboxing the August 2024 Vellabox

Every month Vellabox has a theme and this month it’s, “Friends are the flowers in the garden of life.” It features an inviting walkway to what looks like a pop up party shed in a gorgeous garden.

I really love how they take the time to curate such a gorgeous theme and unboxing experience every single month. I love getting a new candle and surprise item, but these extra touches and details just make the experience so much more than just a candle. Ya know what I mean?

Vellabox always has a knack for including surprise gifts that are both practical and delightful, and this month is no different. The bonus item in the August box is a set of two Swedish dishcloths, valued at $10. Now, if you’re anything like me, you probably didn’t realize your life was missing this until you have them in your hands.

These dishcloths are designed to replace single-use paper towels, which means not only are they super eco-friendly, but they’re also kind of fun to use. They have that magic absorbency that makes you wonder why we’ve been using paper towels for so long anyway. Plus, they’re washable and reusable, so they’ll last through plenty of kitchen clean-ups. It’s the little things, you know?

Let’s talk about this month’s playlist, “Garden Party.” Vellabox always includes a Spotify playlist with each box and it’s one of my favorite parts!  I love listening to it when I write the monthly reviews. Vellabox has a talent for putting together playlists that perfectly complement their candles and the vibe of the theme. The mix of mellow tunes and vibrant melodies create an atmosphere that’s both serene and joyful—think lazy Sunday morning vibes, but with just a hint of sophistication (or at least as sophisticated as you can feel in your pajamas).

You can’t see the songs on the list in advance (well, some of them) so it’s always a bit of a surprise! This month’s curation was definitely a chill vibe with lots of tracks that were new to me.

There are always 3 different candle scent options to choose from, or you can let the team at Vellabox surprise you!  I always go for the surprise option and let me tell you, the team never lets me down.

This month’s star of the show was a “White Tea” candle made by Resolute Candles. When I first popped off the lid, I was met with a fragrance that’s as refreshing as it is complex. It’s like walking into a garden where everything is in perfect bloom, with a little zing of citrus—only with this beauty, you’re relaxing on the comfort of your couch!

The scent profile is a lovely mix of bergamot, mandarin, thyme, jasmine, ginger, white tea, and chrysanthemum. There’s a lot going on here, but somehow it all works together (don’t you just love when that happens?). The initial citrusy top notes of bergamot and mandarin offer a bright, invigorating welcome, while the thyme and jasmine add a soft, herbal heart that feels grounding. But what really seals the deal for me is the blend of white tea and chrysanthemum—it’s delicate yet sophisticated, like the candle equivalent of sipping tea in a botanical garden. Overall, “White Tea” is the kind of scent that’s perfect for those moments when you just need to relax and pretend your life is a little more together than it actually is.

Resolute Candles is the featured maker this month and their founder Nicole is quoted as saying, “Just as we want to know what is in the foods we eat, we should want to know what is in the home products we purchase.” It’s why she got started creating her own candles. Resolute is dedicated to providing high-quality, clean burning candles made with nontoxic ingredients so that consumers don’t have to compromise inviting scents with air quality. Love that!

August’s Vellabox has once again proven why this subscription is such a joy to receive. The “White Tea” candle from Resolute Candles is a fragrant reminder to slow down and savor the simple pleasures, and the Swedish dishcloths are a fabulous addition that I didn’t know I needed.
