Each month you’ll receive a carefully curated box that contains 5-8 FULL SIZE products including home items like reusable snack bags or beeswax wraps, self-care items like candles or body care, along with snack items, a beautiful stone with meditation instructions, information regarding the companies behind the products, and more.

They are also passionate about giving back and they donate a portion of each Crunchy Mama Box to a different Cause Partner each month that is working to make this world a better place.

August Box Details

The August Crunchy Mama Box theme is “Radiance” and this month’s quote to enhance that theme is: “Beauty is a radiance that originates from within and comes from inner security and strong character.”- Jane Seymour

What a lovely theme for the beautiful sunny late summer days of August. It’s easy to forget that each of us mamas really are radiant like these sunshine days, so a reminder from a this subscription box is much appreciated!

Here’s a look at what’s in this month’s Crunchy Mama Box:

Box Insert

This is such an informational box insert and has a nice layout like a tiny newspaper. On the front it boldly lists this month’s theme along with an inspiring quote and the company’s mission. It also provides information on Cause Partner that they are donating to this month which happens to be the YWCA of Knoxville & Tennessee Valley for July. The YWCA provides life-saving services to women and their families in times of crisis. Inside the insert are detailed descriptions of each item including icons for those that are vegan or Leaping Bunny certified. The back page includes information on the stone of the month, how to work with it and a meditation and mantra that align with it’s healing powers.

JeJa Oil Co Muscle And Joint Pain Relief Oil

”I developed the product to treat the many injuries my athletic son was coming home with,” says Jeja founder Lily Ahaiwe. “As a basketball player he was straining muscles and putting a lot of stress on his joints. I didn’t want to give him pain medications, so I developed the oil as a way of treating the injuries. Soon after, all of his teammates began using it and I knew that there was a market for this product.” The JeJa team has worked with farmers and producers who use sustainable and ethical business practices to ensure that JeJa Oil is not only good for the body, but for the earth. “I wanted to do something good for environment” says Lily “and Jeja is my opportunity to not only help people feel better, but live better.”

What a wonderful sounding product! I love finding muscle/pain relief rubs in subscription boxes as I often have sore muscles and achey joints so they are extra useful for me. This one is a lightweight oil (the base is grapeseed) and has a soothing essential oil blend to soothe muscles. It smells minty, cool and herbal – very refreshing. It rubs in nicely and has a very mild cooling effect. I only tested this on on my hand for now, but I can’t wait to try it out on my neck and shoulders.

Prayer Lavender Garden Lavender Sachet

“Prayer Lavender Garden is a small, family owned Lavender farm, LAVENDER GARDEN established in 2016 after receiving the Young Farmers Grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to help us on our journey. We are first generation farmers and chose Lavender as our crop due to its beauty and versatility. We love sharing our agricultural experience and have opened the farm to the public for others to enjoy. We handcraft our products using Lavender essential oil and dried flower buds. Our product line includes Lavender inspired Bath & Body items, Coffees, Teas, Candles and more. Visit the farm to try our Lavender Honey Blueberry Pie & Lavender Ice Creams!”

I LOVE lavender! The scent is so soothing to me. And fresh lavender is even better because it has that extra herbal-fresh crispness to it. Plus there are tons of uses for dried lavender buds like a sachet in a drawer or a sleep helper addition to a pillow. I don’t know what I’m going to do with this cute little bag-full yet, but for now I’ll just be over here inhaling the calming aromas.

Me Mother Earth Brand Bamboo Charcoal Toothbrush

“We want people to think MORE about using reusable products on a daily basis and tread lightly on our planet. We have created affordable, eco-friendly products that make swapping from plastic EASY. Let’s #stopplastic and help our Mother Earth. Mother Earth Please note: While the bristles will biodegrade, they are not compostable. Remove the bristles to compost.”

My favorite kind of toothbrushes are bamboo toothbrushes so this item is perfect. I was about to need a fresh toothbrush too so the timing couldn’t be better either. I love how these help reduce the number of plastic toothbrushes that end up in the landfill every year and I especially love that they can be composted after use too.

Spread The Love Prints Printed Card

“My name is Nancy Friesen and I’m the owner of Spread the Love prints! First and foremost, I am a Christian. I believe wholly that there is a living God and He sent His son to die for me. I am a wife to the most amazing man and the mama to the most special little boy who makes friends with everyone he meets. These three are my life. For about 10+ years now I’ve been taking multiple art classes that led me to this spot right here, creating prints about all things that resemble some sort of love! I decided one cold, January day that I wanted to create designs and open up my own shop on Etsy, selling digital downloads. That’s not all though. I had this vision in mind that every single item I sold should be something that spreads love. These days there is so much hate around us in the world that it’s easy to get caught up and lost in it. We need something to bring us back to reality on one thing. There is still love in the world.”

What a cute card with a sweet message. A great pick me up sentiment that would be nice to put in a frame and hang somewhere that you’ll see it first thing as you start your day. Plus the words align perfectly with this month’s theme and you know I love a good theme!

Caney Creek Soap Co Spearmint & Lime Soap Bar

“Hi! I’m Martha and I make soap, and to be a little more specific, I make an WAVES all natural bar soap using potassium hydroxide, rainwater filtered twice, and Himalayan salt. In 2012 I decided to try to make soap the old fashion way with oak wood, ashes, and rainwater. Working on the recipe off and on for the next several years and by trying numerous ingredients I finally found the right amount of lye, water, oil, and salt for the recipe that I have today, a hard bar soap made naturally with potassium hydroxide. My soap will lather in fresh, brackish or saltwater. It is conditioning to your skin, it has no chemicals, it is all natural, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.”

Hand crafted soap is one of my favorite things to receive in subscription boxes. Not only is it a useful item, but mostly because they are all so unique and beautiful. Hand crafted soap is so thoughtfully made that each one makes showering a delightful and calming experience. This soap especially fits that bill as it’s scented with cooling spearmint and uplifting lime. It makes me think of a cool breeze on a warm, sunny day by the beach. This soap is extra unique since it’s made with fresh and filtered rain water – that makes it seem extra natural and fresh in my mind. I can’t wait to use this one!

Wanderbeads Tahiti Bracelet

“Wanderbeads was inspired by the owner’s love for travel and small coastal towns. Her favorite spot is Surfer’s Paradise in Queensland, Australia. Blue water, a nice surf, lots of cider, and good friends are what make Surfer’s Paradise feel like home. She found similar style bracelets that sold for over $100 and decided to make her own bracelets with the same quality at an affordable price. Each bag is printed and packed in Chattanooga, TN by one of four women who are also mothers, wives. and friends. Our employees have the freedom to create their own hours because we know life is busy and we’ve built a company founded on trust.”

What a pretty bracelet! This is one of my very favorite colors as it reminds me of the ocean and beautiful beaches. The little shell charm really adds to that flair too. I like how it’s a simple, yet fun design and I like that the band is stretchy so it’s comfortable to wear. I’ll have to wear this one throughout the winter to keep my mind of those summer vibes.

Eat Makhana Lily Seed Pop Snacks – Cajun Seasoning

“I remember when unhealthy snacks kept me down – literally. Corn, rice, sugar, dairy, and gluten filled foods stopped me from losing weight and living my best life. These were foods that were meant to be healthy for me, but weren’t. Popped lily seeds, known as makhana, was a childhood staple that I brought into my adult diet to start eating better. Soon, friends and family were asking for it and we started trying new flavors and selling in stores and cafes. As Eat Makhana grew! became busier than ever, but also found myself getting fitter – my personal best yet! It helped me make the most of endurance hiking and HUIT. Lily seeds have been such an important part of my journey and I’m thrilled to have you join me!”

I’ve gotten to try out a few of these snack flavors now through this box so it’s fun to receive another one from their line. This flavor is made with things like paprika, garlic, turmeric, cayenne and cumin so it sounds zesty with a bit of heat. I’m sure these will make for a great summer snack on a cool summer evening.

Stone of the Month: Green Aventurine

“Green Aventurine is a type of translucent Quartz with abundant inclusions of Mica. This gives it the shimmery or glistening look also referred to aventurescence. Green is the most common form of Aventurine, but it can also be found in many other colors! Green Aventurine is known as the Stone of Opportunity for its ability to assist in manifestation as well as attracting luck and abundance. It works directly with the Heart Chakra to balance, protect and encourage a sense of confidence that makes it easier to step outside of your comfort zone. Due to its ability to assist in manifestation and attracting abundance, it is common for people to keep Green Aventurine in or near wherever they keep money. It is also the perfect stone to use in your first crystal grid!”

I love this stone, mostly for it’s color (one of my faves), but also because it’s a good luck stone that also helps with manifestation. I think that makes it not only a great stone to meditate with, but also a good one to carry with you when you need confidence and good energy. I’m glad to have this one to add to my collection!

Crunchy Mama Box Review August 2020 – Final Thoughts

This is hands down my favorite Crunchy Mama Box yet! I just love every item included so much and can hardly pick a favorite. This one feels packed to the brim with items that will help us mamas take care of ourselves while also reminding us that these acts of selfcare makes us strong and radiant too. From necessary self care that also helps care for the planet (the toothbrush) to nourishing self care (the Lily Seed snack) and indulgent/soothing self care (the soap and muscle oil) – every self care category is covered. I plan on using every item in this box right away and will be savoring them (just like these last days of summer) all month long!
