Crunchy Mama Box Review November 2020

Crunchy Mama Box is a curated monthly subscription box that provides natural and eco-friendly self-care to fellow crunchy mamas. They kindly sent us this box for review.

Crunchy Mama Box is much more than a subscription box company; they create a community of Mamas that are on a mission to spread love, support, and encouragement. They support women-owned, small, and eco-friendly businesses that make clean, healthy products and that are motivated by a cause.

Each month you’ll receive a carefully curated box that contains 5-8 FULL SIZE products including home items like reusable snack bags or beeswax wraps, self-care items like candles or body care, along with snack items, a beautiful stone with meditation instructions, information regarding the companies behind the products, and more.

They are also passionate about giving back and they donate a portion of each box to a different Cause Partner each month that is working to make this world a better place.

Subscription Details

The cost of the box is $39.99 per month with free shipping. New boxes are shipped on the 3rd of each month and will arrive to subscribers within 2-5 business days after shipping.

November Box Details

“The November box theme is “Thankful.” The Thankful Box is a special curation with our subscribers favorites. Although we give thanks throughout the year, November is a month where we all tend to focus even more on all we are grateful for. I want to thank you for being part of our Crunchy Mama Strong community and for supporting us this year. Enjoy your goodies!”

There isn’t a better theme for the month of November! Gratitude is best to practice year round, but this month it’s highlighted so this box fits right in with what’s on my mind. I love that everything included doesn’t just inspire gratitude and self care but also shows gratitude for the makers who’s items are included.

Box Insert

This is such an informational box insert and has a nice layout like a tiny newspaper. On the front it boldly lists this month’s theme along with an inspiring quote and the company’s mission. It also provides information on Cause Partner that they are donating to this month which happens to be the YWCA of Knoxville & Tennessee Valley for July. The YWCA provides life-saving services to women and their families in times of crisis. Inside the insert is a welcome note, detailed descriptions of each item including icons for those that are vegan or Leaping Bunny certified. The back page includes information on the stone of the month, how to work with it and a meditation and mantra that align with it’s healing powers.

Handmade Wool Hair Clips from Andes Gifts

“Our goal is to create long-term dependable employment opportunities for indigenous artisans in Peru and Bolivia, and to connect thoughtful consumers with the people and ancient cultural traditions behind our products. Andes Gifts was founded on the principle of bringing sustainable employment opportunities to artisans living in rural communities throughout Peru and Bolivia. We believe in the principles of the Fair Trade Federation, and preserving the traditional knitting techniques of the Andes Mountains.”

These are cute little barrettes! I generally don’t wear barrettes, but my daughter does and they would be so cute for her. I love that these are handmade and fair trade. It’s great to support products that give back by helping artisans find fair living wages.

Lavender Sachet from Prayer Lavender Garden

“Prayer Lavender Garden is a small, family owned Lavender farm, established in 2016 after receiving the Young Farmers Grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to help us on our journey. We are first generation farmers and chose Lavender as our crop due to its beauty and versatility. We love sharing our agricultural experience and have opened the farm to the public for others to enjoy. We handcraft our products using Lavender essential oil and dried flower buds. Our product line includes Lavender inspired Bath & Body items, Coffees, Teas, Candles and more. Visit the farm to try our Lavender Honey Blueberry Pie & Lavender Ice Creams!.”

Lavender is my favorite! This is an item I’ve received a similar item to in an earlier box and I say you can never ever have too much lavender so this is great. It smells so soothing, herbal-ly, floral and fresh. I like to keep these on my nightstand for the aromatherapy but they’d be great as drawer sachets too.

Ceramic Mug

“Warm up your day and enjoy your favorite herbal tea, spiced latte, or hearty soup in this beautiful ceramic mug.”

Oh I love this mug! It just looks so cozy and ready for a hot beverage. I like the earthiness of it, the natural clay element and the textures it has. I also like that it’s shorter and wider – a different style of mug than the others in my collection. I will be getting lots of use out of this one with my evening tea. It pairs well with the bonus tea sample that was included too!

Orange & Nutmeg Soap Bar from Caney Creek Soap Co

“Hi! I’m Martha and I make soap, and to be a little more specific, I make an WAVES all natural bar soap using potassium hydroxide, rainwater filtered twice, and Himalayan salt. In 2012 I decided to try to make soap the old fashion way with oak wood, ashes, and rainwater. Working on the recipe off and on for the next several years and by trying numerous ingredients I finally found the right amount of lye, water, oil, and salt for the recipe that I have today, a hard bar soap made naturally with potassium hydroxide. My soap will lather in fresh, brackish or saltwater. It is conditioning to your skin, it has no chemicals, it is all natural, biodegradable and environmentally friendly.”

I love, love, love handmade soap and get so excited to find it in subscription boxes. I am especially excited about this soap as it’s from another brand that has been in this box before and the last bar that was sent was one of my favorites. Out of the two options to receive I go the Orange & Nutmeg bar. It smells so good and has the perfect bright fall/winter aroma – citrus with a bit of spice. It makes me think of those orange ornaments with cloves I made as a child – fun memories!

Functional Massage Oil from Jeja Oil

“I developed the product to treat the many injuries my athletic son was coming home with,” says JeJa founder Lily Ahaiwe. “As a basketball player he was straining muscles and putting a lot of stress on his joints. I didn’t want to give him pain medications, so I developed the oil as a way of treating the injuries. Soon after, all of his teammates began using it and I knew that there was a market for this product.” The JeJa team has worked with farmers and producers who use sustainable and ethical business practices to ensure that Jeja Oil is not only good for the body, but for the earth. “I wanted to do something good for environment” says Lily “and Jeja is my opportunity to not only help people feel better, but live better.”

I always appreciate these types of muscle/pain massage oils. This is another brand they are re-highlighting as a customer favorite so I have received this one before, but I appreciate having more! It’s made with all natural ingredients and has an herbal and eucalyptus type aroma. It rubs easily into skin and almost has a cooling effect. I really like this one!

Bourbon Vanilla Ungranola from Bubbas Foods

“Since 2014, Bubba’s Fine Foods has been at the head of a natural health food revolution where smart, healthy choices finally meet big, bold flavors. Run by gourmet chef Jared Menzel and his brother-in-law, former CrossFit trainer and health coach, Jeff Schmidgall, they’re satisfying your naughty and nice cravings with every wholesome green banana they peel, dash of chipotle they sprinkle, and nourishing handful you munch..”

This is another brand I’ve seen before in this box, but a different item than I’ve received before which is fun. I’ve never heard of this “ungranola” before and am so intrigued. It’s made with super simple ingredients including coconut, banana and nuts and they say it’s reminiscent of your favorite granola. I look forward to trying this on some yogurt or even a topper on some oatmeal.

Nourish & Clarify Facial Cleanser from Root Journey

“We have crafted this enriching, soap-free, gentle yet effective cleanser, unique enough to complement your own skin journey. Our rich blend of vegan, organic and natural ingredients help clear away impurities without stripping your skin’s natural oils, while nourishing and allowing your newly rejuvenated complexion to glow. This cleanser is gentle to use both day and night, and is perfect for all skin types. When used daily, Root Journey Facial Cleanser can deep clean and purify pores, leaving skin hydrated.”

I really enjoy this skincare line and have received their items a few times in this box so this is another repeat for customer and maker appreciation. Since face wash is something you use really regularly it’s actually great to get another bottle. It’s made with a ton of skin nourishing ingredients and smells so refreshing – minty, earthy and crisp. One thing I appreciate about this face wash is that it’s packaging is nearly plastic free so recycling is a breeze.

Stone of the Month: Botswana Agate Meditation Stone + Momtra Card

“Botswana Agate Found in Botswana, Africa, Botswana Agate is a variety of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. The color consists of predominantly gentle pinks, brown and grays. Botswana Agate is known for its soothing and calming colors and energy. It eliminates and transforms negative energy while revitalizing and stabilizing the auric body. Agate is a lower intensity stone as it carries a quiet, more subtle energy and vibrates at a slower frequency than others. But it is still revered for its grounding and balancing influence. It encourages emotional healing allowing us to be open to eternal love. Agate has been used in talismans, amulets and carvings since the rise of Ancient Greece and it still makes for stunning unisex jewelry! It is a great stone to use in a grid in your home to balance yin and yang, the positive and negative forces of the universe.”

This is such a pretty stone. I love the linear patterns agates have. The lines are so soothing to look at, which is fitting since the energies it imparts are soothing, calming and stabilizing. It will be a great stone to add to my collection and use during this time of year when things can get busy and gratitude has to be mindfully thought of. This will help provide grounding and calm to situations that need it (and there will be a lot, I’m sure!).

Crunchy Mama Box Review November 2020 – Final Thoughts

The theme for this month’s Crunchy Mama Box is a perfect reminder to practice gratitude this month, and of course all year too. I love that they chose to highlight subscriber favorite items to one, show gratitude to the makers who’s goods are so appreciated and two, to thank the subscribers by giving them more of their faves. I happened to include several of these items in my monthly favorites recap posts over on my blog so it’s awesome to get back up products of favorites for when I run out. Since many things have been on my favorites list, I don’t know how I’ll pick a favorite this month! Everything from the collection is so wonderful and thoughtful and I’m really grateful for this subscription box and the warm hug by mail it sends each month.
