Hushbug Book Box Review: December 2022

We’re a week and a half into the new year and I’m still in a holi-daze, partly because the kids have only just gone back to school and partly because we still have our tree. Okay also partly because I’m still eating all kinds of holiday treats. 🤷‍♀️ I’d be quite happy to while away the rest of the month with a cozy blanket, some great books and the giant tin of Christmas cookies from my bestie but I’ve got lots of fun boxes to share so let’s get to it! Today we’re looking at one of my favourite new subscriptions from ’22, Hushbug Book Box. It’s a monthly box that delivers a newly released rom com book, a snack, and a few additional surprises. Here’s December’s edition.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

A card tucked inside each box has a cozy image on one side and a list of the contents on the other. I’d say the pumpkin in this photo seems a little out of place for December but since I’ve only just tossed our wee gourds in the compost I really can’t say a word. 😂 (To be fair only one had started to rot.)

And Hushbug’s book for December: Two Wrongs Make a Right by Chloe Liese.

“Opposites become allies to fool their matchmaking friends in this swoony reimagining of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

Jamie Westenberg and Bea Wilmot have nothing in common except a meet-disaster and the mutual understanding that they couldn’t be more wrong for each other. But when the people closest to them play Cupid and trick them into going on a date, Jamie and Bea realize they have something else in common after all—an undeniable need for revenge.

Soon their plan is in place: Fake date obnoxiously and convince the meddlers they’re madly in love. Then, break up spectacularly and dash their hopes, putting an end to the matchmaking madness once and for all.”

To convince everyone that they’ve fallen for each other, Jamie and Bea will have to nail the performance of their lives. But as their final act nears and playing lovers becomes easier than not, they begin to wonder, what if Cupid’s arrow wasn’t so off the mark? And what if two wrongs do make a right?

Fake dating is one of my favourite rom com tropes so I’m all over this one. 😍😍 It’s got four stars on Goodreads and a great blurb from Helen Hoang (love her!) so I feel like I’m in for a real treat.

Next, a buffalo plaid travel mug that ticks all the travel mug boxes for me: it’s ceramic (tea out of plastic or metal never tastes as good), a good size, dishwasher safe and super cute.

I used the apple crumble mix last night and it made a delicious and comforting dessert (we doubled number of apples recommended and it was still plenty sweet and perfectly spiced) and the milk chocolate dipped licorice was tasty too.

Hushbug subscribers also received a variety of vegan soaps. Mine is peppermint and marshmallow and smells sooo fantastic! I’d be happy to see an artisanal soap in every box!

Next, a textured pom pom beanie that’s super soft and warm and much-needed where we are.

And finally, a vegan leather hair clip that’s both practical and stylish. Love!

Could December’s Hushbug Book Box be any more cozy? I love how they’ve taken care of include items for all of the senses, from the super-soft beanie to the great-smelling soap and the delicious apple crumble mix and choco-coated licorice. And I’m so looking forward to reading the book! I love everything in this box! And I feel like you might too. 😉
