Hushbug Book Box Review: November 2022
Rom com readers, this one’s for you! 🤗 Hushbug Book Box is a monthly subscription box that delivers a newly released rom com book, a snack, and three to five additional surprises like stationery, home goods and bath and body products. It’s available in three- and six-month subscriptions and by the box and ships across Canada and the US. November’s box is only my second so it’s early days with this one but I like it a lot. Like a lot a lot. 🥰 Come see.*
*They kindly sent us this box for review.
Each Hushbug Book Box opens with a product card. It’s got a photo related to the book on one side and a list of the contents on the other. I like to be surprised going in so I set mine aside to read later. Luckily Hushbug is careful to pack the card photo side up.
Scarf: Not to be dramatic — okay I’m totally going to be dramatic — but reader, I gasped when I saw this peach confection of a scarf. It’s from Danica Studio, a Vancouver company and favourite of a few Canadian subscription boxes I’ve tried. I love the subtle pattern, the delicate tassels and the size, ‘tho its more of a summer weight than fall. I wear a lot of white and black and I think it’ll bring some nice colour to my face, whatever the season.
Book: Next, the book! November’s pick is A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young, released October 18.
“When event planner Hallie Goodman receives party-inspiration material from the bride of her latest wedding project, the last thing she expects to find in the files are digital videos from Darcy’s ex-boyfriend. Hallie knows it’s wrong to keep watching these personal videos, but this guy is cute, funny, and an astronaut on the International Space Station to boot. She’s only human. And it’s not long until she starts sending e-mails and video diaries to his discontinued NASA address. Since they’re bouncing back, there’s no way anyone will ever be able to see them…right?
Christopher Ortiz is readjusting to life on earth and being constantly in the shadow of his deceased older brother. When a friend from NASA’s IT department forwards him the e-mails and video messages Hallie has sent, he can’t help but notice how much her sense of humor and pink hair make his heart race.
Separated by screens, Hallie and Chris are falling in love with each other, one transmission at a time. But can they make their star-crossed romance work when they each learn the other’s baggage?”
Pardon the pun, but this sounds stellar! I can’t wait to read it! 🤩 Have you read A Cosmic Kind of Love?
Letter: Hushbug also included a letter from the author, something we’re seeing more and more in book boxes these days. I put it aside to read after the book.
Body Scrub: Next up is a vanilla moon radiant body scrub by Om Organics Skincare. Vanilla isn’t my favourite scent but I’ve been using it mainly on my feet so it’s not like it’s right under my nose.
Snacks: For snacks we’ve got a large but of chip-coated peanuts called chippy nuts by Orange Crate Food Company and a milk chocolate bar by Peace By Chocolate. I shouldn’t have cracked into these before I started the book because both were gone in a day. Mistakes were made. 🤷♀️ Also, delicious!
Socks & Notepad: And last but not least, celestial socks by Uptown Sox that match the cover of the book and a Things to Do Before Reading notepad by Jaybee Design. I prefer solid-coloured socks over patterns so I’ll probably give these to my mom (she likes fun socks) but the notepad I’ll use for sure.
What do we think of November’s Hushbug Book Box? I’m delighted with mine, and I haven’t even started the book!
