JoahBox Review December 2018

JoahBox is a monthly beauty box subscription featuring 5-7 full size Korean beauty products. Each month is filled with makeup and skincare items with a total value of up to $100. You’ll see a mixture of popular brands featured (think Pony Effect, Etude House, Missha, etc.), as well as newer beauty brands that are harder to get your hands on in the US. JoahBox kindly sent me their December box to review.

Box Details: JoahBox curates their monthly beauty boxes with a mix of popular Korean brands like Innisfree, Etude House, Missha, Nature Republic, etc. as well as newer “indie” K-beauty brands. Korea is home to thousands of beauty brands, so JoahBox gives you the ability to discover new favorites. Boxes will contain 5-7 full-sized beauty items including a mixture of makeup, skincare, bath, body, hair, nails, and beauty tools.

Here’s a closer look at the items I received for the month of December….

Included in every JoahBox is a mini pamphlet detailing all of the products featured each month. You’ll get in-depth descriptions and instructions (in English, of course)!

CELLBN CELLXV 100% Camellia Oil – $16

Lately, I’ve been a huge fan of facial oils since it penetrates my skin better, providing me with longer-lasting moisture. This 100% Camellia Oil is amazing. It’s only 10ml, but it contains pure Camellia Oil, which is rich in antioxidants. It can be used to hydrate the skin (both face and body) and I really see a difference in the morning. My face just looks and feels more supple, hydrated, and bouncy!

COMMLEAF Rose Sleeping Mask – $22

The Rose Sleeping Mask is made up of 75% rose water and it contains real rose petals. It has a thin, gel-like consistency that easily absorbs into the skin without being heavy or sticky. To use, apply it during the last step of your skincare before bed. In the morning, wash throughly to remove the remnants. I really like this sleeping mask because it locks in all of the moisture from my skincare, which is a godsend on days when my face feels really dry and tight. Plus, COMMLEAF is an eco-friendly and cruelty-free beauty brand!

NO:HJ Modeling Mask Serum Chrysanthemum – $3.5

If you’re familiar with typical modeling masks (the kind that forms a rubber-like texture), this isn’t it. The NO:HJ is like your average sheet mask but with a gold surface. The gold material helps lock in the serum essence and moisture, which forces your skin to soak up the goodness. I wore this mask for about 20 minutes and afterwards, my skin was drenched with long-lasting hydration.

THE2NDAID Noni Bann – $18

Noni is an exotic fruit that’s hard to get my hands on in the USA. It has many benefits for the skin including anti-inflammatory properties, anti-aging, and it’s rich with antioxidants. I so excited to see a noni-inspired moisturizer and not surprisingly, I LOVE it! It’s a lightweight gel-cream texture that gently moisturizes the skin. It sinks in quickly without being sticky and has a refreshing and light citrusy scent! It hits all the marks for what I look for in a moisturizer. The only disappointing thing was that the tube is only 21ml and is sure to be finished quickly!

Candy Lab Creampop The Velvet Lip Color – $14

The one and only makeup item included this month is the Creampop The Velvet Lip Color by Candy Lab. This is a variation item in which you can receive three shades. I received ‘Anti-Social’ which is a deep burgundy hue. I love the formula of this – it’s soft and creamy with a velvety texture that doesn’t dry out my lips!

JoahBox Review December 2018 – Final Thoughts

Wow – I think this my favorite JoahBox yet! I LOVED every single thing in this month’s box and that’s very rare. The entire box felt expertly curated, though it wouldn’t have hurt if there was another makeup item. 4 out of the 5 items were skincare products. However, each item was in a different product category (masks, moisturizers, facial oils), so all of the items could be used in conjunction with one another.

Out of all the K-beauty boxes I’ve subbed to in the past, JoahBox is by far my favorite because of how they introduce me to popular favorites, as well as new brands that aren’t easily accessible. CELLBN, THE2NDAID and COMMLEAF were amazing brands that I probably would have never known about if it weren’t for this subscription.

It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite this month, but I’ve been using the 100% Camellia Oil and Noni Bann Moisturizer non-stop since I’ve received this box. I can’t wait to see what’s in store next month!
