JoahBox Review February 2019

JoahBox is a monthly beauty box subscription featuring 5-7 full size Korean beauty products. They recently revamped their packaging so that all of your products now arrive in a reusable pouch! Each month is filled with makeup and skincare items with a total value of up to $100. You’ll see a mixture of popular brands featured (think Pony Effect, Etude House, Missha, etc.), as well as newer beauty brands that are harder to get your hands on in the US. JoahBox kindly sent me their February box to review.

Here’s a closer look at the items I received for the month of February …

Included in every JoahBox is a mini pamphlet detailing all of the products featured each month. You’ll get in-depth descriptions and instructions (in English, of course)!

MILIMAGE Face Tone Cealer – $15

Milimage is a new Korean beauty brand that I’ve never heard of before, but am SO excited to try. We get two items from them this month and the first one is the Face Tone Cealer. It comes in a pale green square compact that features a smooth magnetic open-and-shut closure. Housed inside is four pans of cream color-correcting concealers and a decently sized mirror for touch-ups on-the-go. The shades range from white, a pale green, a lavender, and a yellow. The lavender shade does a great job by adding brightness to the skin and the green does cancel out redness. However, I’m not a huge fan of the texture and found it a little too drying on my skin.

MILIMAGE Bashful Blusher – $12

The second Milimage item this month is the Bashful Blusher. It comes in a similar compact case as the Face Tone Cealer, but in a vibrant red hue. Unlike the Face Tone Cealer, the texture of this cream blush was SO velvety soft and blended out with ease. It has a cream-to-powder finish that really blurred out my skin’s texture to a soft and smooth finish. I like applying this with my fingers or with a stippling brush!

Here are swatches of the Milimage Bashful Blusher in #5 and the Face Tone Cealer palette.

BRITISH M Ethic Shampoo – $8

The Ethic Shampoo by BRITISH M comes in a minimalistic travel-sized squeeze bottle and contains 80ml of product. What makes this formula special is that it contains 10 different plant-based ingredients, including aloe and green tea, to help strengthen and nourish your hair and scalp. The shampoo has a clear runny texture with a delicious herbal and lemon-y fresh scent. It lathers well and feels very invigorating on the scalp! My hair is left feeling clean, refreshed, and so smooth.

Aqulabo Mask Boosting Jelly Mist – $15

The Aqulabo Mask Boosting Jelly Mist is supposed to be your sheet mask’s new best friend. To use, spray all over your face before putting on a sheet mask to help absorb more moisture and nutrients from the mask essence. It contains an amino acid complex, which helps strengthen your skin’s barrier. The Jelly Mist comes in a convenient spray bottle, but the nozzle sucks. Each time I spray the bottle, my face gets completely drenched with huge droplets like I’m taking a shower! Besides the poor delivery system, the product itself does help the hydrating and moisturizing effects of the sheet mask last longer.

BUTIQLAB Premium Mask Pack – $1.5

I LOVED this sheet mask! It’s made of a soft cotton with decently sized cutouts and overall shape for my face. The mask was drenched with a lot of hydrating clear essence that felt very soothing on my skin. It has a subtle clean fragrance that I enjoyed and the aloe vera helped speed up the healing of some of my blemishes. My skin tone was brighter and my skin texture was much smoother afterwards!

JoahBox Review February 2019 – Final Thoughts

JoahBox constantly knocks it out of the ball park each month! I know Korea is home to thousands of beauty brands, but I’m always introduced to new brands that I end up loving. This is one of my favorite subscription boxes to receive because JoahBox consistently brings unique brands that aren’t easily accessible, right to my doorstep!

The entire box felt expertly curated, with a diverse mixture of items from both skincare, makeup, and haircare. My favorite items this month is the Milimage Bashful Blusher and the British M Ethic Shampoo. The blush gave off such a soft-focused velvet finish on the cheeks that looked like such a natural flush. Plus, some of the products complement each other, so you can use them together like the Mask Boosting Jelly Mist and the Butiqlab sheet mask. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next month!
