Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review January 2020

I feel like I say this every month, but IMHO Look Fantastic Beauty Box is one of the best beauty box bargains going. The UK subscription box delivers six premium beauty and skin care products and a copy of ELLE UK for £15.00 or about $22 CAD/month. Shipping is free.

*They kindly sent us this box for review

Lookfantastic the company is Europe’s top online premium beauty retailer. They carry over 22,000 products and offer free shipping to more than 200 countries.

There are four subscription options for the Look Fantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD):

  • Month-to-month, $22/box
  • 3-month subscription, $21.28/box
  • 6-month subscription, $20.18/box
  • 12-month subscription, $19.08/box

In addition to the copy of ELLE UK, each Look Fantastic Beauty Box includes its own mini magazine with details on that month’s products, interviews with beauty insiders and primers on popular ingredients and/or makeup techniques. I really liked this month’s pieces on beauty podcasts (Lookfantastic suggests four that sound interesting) and beauty trends for 2020.

MIO SKINCARE Shrink to Fit Cellulite Smoother

“[One of three creams that you could get in January’s box] These antioxidant-rich creams effectively tone and smooth the appearance of skin; revealing soft, firm, fit skin for life. Infused with a wide mix of beneficial ingredients, including Papaya, Hyaluronic Acid, Green Tea and Caffeine, these products will look after your skin, from top to toe. ($15.47)”

I’ve always thought cellulite creams are like snake oil, but I probably haven’t used one long enough to see a difference. I’ve only been using this one for a week and haven’t noticed a change but MIO recommends using it daily for 30 days and then 3 to 4 times a week after that so it may be just early days yet. I like the minty scent. Also, I may need a larger bottle, LOL.

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil Blemish Stick

“Treat that spot fast with the help of the Australian Bodycare Blemish Stick, infused with 100% tea tree oil. With fantastic anti-inflammatory properties, use at the first sign of a breakout to fight bacteria, reduce redness and speed up the healing process. ($17.17)”

This came at just the right time. I’ve been using it every day this week to try to clear up a couple of pimples on my chin and I think it’s helped. (I don’t break out often but when I do those spots are large and in charge and prone to scar. ) The roller feels cool and soothing on and doesn’t irritate or dry out my skin.

Jo Hansford Expert Colour Care Everyday Shampoo & Conditioner

“The perfect combination to protect, nourish and enhance your hair, this duo set is paraben and sulphate free and formulated with Sweet Blue Lupin Peptides to stop your hair colour fading for up to 30 washes. Made with naturally sustainable ingredients from the Amazon, the unique formula of this shampoo and conditioner will leave your hair feeling silky to the touch. ($12.38)”

I love this pair’s fruity scent — it reminds me of the satsuma body wash from The Body Shop. I’ve tried it twice now and my hair feels light and soft. I can’t speak to the colour-staying power but time will tell.

GLOV Reusable Makeup Remover Pads (3)

“Minimize your makeup-removal routine with the help of Glov’s Moon Pads. Reusable and sustainable, the pads are made from microfibres that breakdown dirt and impurities to give a deep cleanse and exfoliation in one. ($12.22)”

These are used just like disposable cotton pads, only they’re much softer and you can throw them in the washing machine and use them again and again. And the bag they come in is made of starch and apparently decomposes in a year. What’s not to love? If I wore makeup everyday I’d probably love to have another three to use before putting them all in the wash but this pack works for me.

Lord & Berry Ultimate Lip Liner (Nude)

“With macadamia oil, waterlily extracts and enriched with LXB complex, this Lord & Berry Lip Liner will soften your lips from first application. This round barrel pencil is completely waterproof and highly blendable to give a move natural lip lining look. ($25.78)”

I don’t think I’ve ever spent $26 on a lip liner but it does live up to its promise. The colour is too brown for my colouring but I’d love to see it in a peach, pink or red.

ECOOKING Moisturising Serum

“Replenish lost moisture and hydrate your skin with this weightless, non-greasy serum. Full of hyaluronic acid to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Vegan and free from parabens and fragrances. ($36.96)”

When they say weightless, they mean it. This serum feels lovely and cool going on but it dries in a nano-second and doesn’t feel like you’ve used anything at all. And it’s scent-free, which I like. It’s too early to say if it’s helped my fine lines but I’m happy to keep using it and see.

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial, you get alllll this for $22.

$22 for $119.98 worth of products! (Okay the .98 really does sound like an informercial.) I think it’s a steal for what you get.

What do you think of January’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box? Is it something you’d like to try?
