Look Fantastic Beauty Box Review June 2020

Look Fantastic Beauty Box is a UK subscription box that delivers six premium beauty and skin care products for £15.00 or about $26 CAD/month. June’s included an extra treat: a zippered makeup case they’ve packed the products in rather than the usual box.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review

There are four subscription options for Look Fantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD):

  • Month-to-month, $26.30/box
  • 3-month subscription, $26.30/box
  • 6-month subscription, $26.30/box
  • 12-month subscription, $26.30/box

Canadian subscribers pay approximately $12 shipping for the first box and subsequent boxes ship free.

This month they’ve done away with their traditional product guide (a 20-page mini magazine) in favour of a welcome card telling subscribers the change is temporary and the mag will be available online. (I haven’t been able to find it so I’ve included product descriptions and prices from each brand.)

Molton Brown Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Bath & Shower Gel

“A luxurious body wash to leave your skin feeling fresh, preened and pampered. The uniquely scented formula takes inspiration from lapping waves and oceanic aromas, combining accords of Australian Sea Fennel with Salted Cypress. Nourishing and moisturising, the shower gel will effectively cleanse away dirt and impurities while refreshing and invigorating from top to toe. Skin is left feeling revitalised and delicately scented.” ($42.50/300 ml; this is 100 ml)

Loooooove the scent! I wish I had it in multiple products so I could smell it on my skin and hair all day; sadly the scent of the shower gel alone doesn’t have any staying power. (Not any that I noticed anyway.)

Josh Wood Colour Everything Mask

“Created to lock-in colour, add shine, hydrate and deep-condition your hair, the Everything Mask is the ultimate treatment for all. For every shade of hair. Use on freshly-coloured hair to lock in the pigment. Continue to use as a weekly treatment.” ($33.50 for 140 ml; this is the 30 ml size.)

It’s been six or seven weeks since I last dyed my hair (I did it at home on the cheap and it looks like it too)  so I can’t attest to the mask’s power to preserve my highlights. But for deep conditioning it’s wonderful! My hair feels super soft and shiny after just one treatment and I think there’s enough product left for one or two more.

Ultrasun SPF 30 Lip Protection

“A high quality lip balm designed specifically to protect your delicate pout from the elements. The ingredients include gorgeous blackcurrant seed oil which reduces inflammation and chapping whilst simultaneously moisturising any dryness. As well as being an excellent all round lip salve the Ultrasun Ultralip SPF 30 can also be used as a base for lipstick as it is fragrance free. It can be re-applied throughout the day in all temperatures and altitudes for great lasting continuous coverage.”($10.25)

Ottawa summers are short but hot and it doesn’t take long to get a sunburn. You can never have too many high-SPF lip balms, IMHO. Love to see one of these in a winter box too.

Glov Raindrop Hairbrush

“Do you dream of beautiful, shiny hair, but you are tired of everyday, monotonous rituals? The GLOV Raindrop Hairbrush is designed to serve not only your hair, but also to look amazing! The unique shape of the brush makes it perfectly fits the hand and the shape of the head. GLOV Raindrop Hairbrush combs even the most tangled strands with great ease. It works well with long, wet hair, as well as with even distribution of masks and conditioners. The handy and compact shape of the GLOV Raindrop Hairbrush is perfect for everyday use and when traveling!” ($15.53)

I use a wide-tooth comb on my hair and it doesn’t feel anywhere near as good as this brush. It’s gentle on tangles, easy to hold and easy to clean.

Polaar Very High Protection Sun Lotion SPF 50+

“Lightweight and non-greasy, the silk-textured formula is easily applied and quickly sinks in without leaving white residue. Skin is offered strong protection against harmful sun damage, while exclusive active ingredients accelerate the natural tanning process by activating melanin synthesis for an even and long-lasting bronzed glow.” ($38.50 CAD for 50 ml and this is 20 ml)

I haven’t tried this yet but I love the idea. Have you tried Polaar’s Sun Lotion or another similar product?

Shangpree Aroma Blend Calming Mask

“Combining skincare and aromatherapy into one nourishing product, the Shangpree Aroma Blend Calming Mask leaves you with a glowing, softer complexion. Formulated with Neroli alongside Aroma Oils such as Chamomile and Orange Flower, the mask soothes and relaxes your skin and mood, reducing redness for a healthier feel and brighter look. Suitable for sensitive skin, its texture will be softened and, with added Panthenol, will be treated to a burst of hydration too. Ideal to integrate into your regular skincare routine, these masks are individually packaged for convenience.” ($42.69 for 10; this is a single mask)

I’ve yet to try this one as well, but the description ticks all of the boxes for my sensitive skin. (Sheet masks feel so decadent. Anyone else save them for special occasions?)

June’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box is valued at approximately $66.77, plus the makeup case. I’m really pleased with the products I’ve tried and the makeup case is such a welcome bonus. I love the size, the see-through sides, how it zips completely open to lay flat and the quality construction. It feels really well made and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it. Great value all-round!
