Lookfantastic Beauty Box Review February 2021

Lookfantastic Beauty Box is a UK subscription box that delivers six premium beauty and skincare products for about $25 CAD/month. Unlike some cosmetic-focused beauty boxes, Lookfantastic is big on skincare with maybe one or two makeup items. *

* They kindly sent us this box for review

There are four subscription options for the Lookfantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD; I’m quoting the prices from the Canadian Lookfantastic site):

  • Month-to-month, $25/box
  • 3-month subscription, $24/box
  • 6-month subscription, $22.50/box
  • 12-month subscription, $21.50/box

Canadian subscribers pay approximately $12 shipping for the first box and subsequent boxes ship free.

Each Lookfantastic Beauty Box includes a product guide that’s like a mini magazine with information on the contents and how to use them, interviews with beauty industry professionals, brand features, etc. My favourite piece in February’s edition is 10 Books to Help You Feel Inspired “because there’s nothing like reading a good book to help stimulate the mind and make you feel more motivated to get it done.” Isn’t that the truth?! What books inspire you?

Eyeko Galactic Lid Gloss (Zodiac)

“A liquid eyeshadow to take your makeup to the next level. Mess-free and quick to apply, with a glitter finish which allows you to take your makeup from day to night.”

Normally the super sparkly nature of this shadow would make it a night-out product for me but I’m actually loving it for daytime. Playful and super flatting. Definitely sparks joy. Some subscribers received this one, others got a silvery shade called Stardust.

Illamasqua Beyond Veil Skin Glowing Gel

“Combining two of Illamasqua’s hero products — the Hydra Veil primer and Beyond Powder — this face primer is hydrating and illuminating all in one. Apply under makeup to help it last all day whilst also providing a luminous, natural-looking glow.”

Interesting jelly texture that feels a bit weird to the touch but wonderfully cool and light on. I don’t often bother with primer and haven’t worn it even once in the past year, times being what they are, but I’m game to give it an honest try the next time I’m wearing foundation for hours at a time. A hint of sparkle.

Balance Me AHA Glow Mask

“A chemical facial exfoliant to brighten, purify and plump your complexion. Its blend of AHA’s encourages the shedding of any dry or dull skin to reveal a natural, youthful and luminous glow beneath. Suitable for all kind types, but particularly beneficial for blemish-prone skin.”

This is the first of two masks in February’s box and I can’t decide which one I like more. Really they’re both lovely and I think this one made my face especially glowy. I’ve received a face mist from the same brand in a couple of boxes and it’s among my favourite all-time beauty products.

Bubble T Cosmetics Strawberry Macaron Hand & Body Butter

“A thick, hydrating moisturiser for your body with a delectable strawberry scent. Treat, soothe and refresh dry skin. Cruelty-free and parabens-free.”

I love strawberry everything but this hand and body butter smells so sickeningly sweet that I didn’t even want to try it. But there’s a lid for every pot as they say so I’m sure I’ll find someone who will enjoy it.

Magnitone Wipe Out Swipes (2 Pack)

“Two microfibre cleansing pads that remove even the toughest of makeup with just warm water. Super-soft and ideal for sensitive skin as no cleanser is needed. Simply throw into the washing machine after use to reuse 1000s of times! That means no more disposable makeup remover wipes going into landfill!”

I’ve tried pads like these over the years and I’m amazed how well they work, even on the most stubborn mascara. They’re super soft too.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

“A natural exfoliating facial cream with 7 active ingredients to repair, protect and clarify your skin. Ideal for all complexions, this exfoliator gets rid of dead skin cells without harsh abrasion. The result? Smooth, moisturised and brighter skin.”

Some subscribers received a moisturizer from Madara instead of this peel but I love this one. Goes on like a night cream and smells like The Body Shop’s green apple soap, which I love. My skin feels wonderful after using it. Baby soft.

February’s Lookfantastic Beauty Box introduced me to several wonderful new-to-me products and just one miss. The sizes aren’t the most generous I’ve seen but there’s certainly enough product to determine whether you like it or not. I’m really pleased with this one!
