Lookfantastic Beauty Box Review November 2021

Happy Monday, everybody! How was your weekend? We listened to a lot of Christmas music and put up some decorations — both much earlier than we usually do. (Look at us getting all festive!) I hope you’re feeling excited for the holidays too. I’ve got several subscription boxes to share with you this week so you’ll be hearing from me a lot. Like a lot a lot, LOL. Hopefully you’ll find a few gift ideas (even for yourself). First up today is the latest from Lookfantastic Beauty Box. It’s a UK subscription box that delivers a mix of six premium cosmetics and skincare products for about $25 CAD/month. Here’s a look at November’s box.*

*They kindly sent us this box for review.

There are four subscription options for Lookfantastic Beauty Box (all prices in CAD; I’m quoting the prices from the Canadian Lookfantastic site):

  • Month-to-month, $25/box
  • 3-month subscription, $24/box
  • 6-month subscription, $22.50/box
  • 12-month subscription, $21.50/box

Canadian subscribers pay approximately $12 shipping for the first box and subsequent boxes ship free.

This month’s product guide is available online only (the card included with the box has the QR code to access it on the reverse). I tried to view it several times and could only see two pages so I’ve quoted product descriptions from each brand’s website.

Le Mini Macaron Moisturizing Foot Mask ($5)

“Enjoy a little self-care at home with this moisturizing foot mask! Lavender-scented and enriched with different leaf oils. Your tired, dry feet will feel relaxed, refreshed and deeply hydrated. Vegan, cruelty free, paraben free, phthalate free.”

As much as I think I’d enjoy this mask (I’ve never used one for feet) I feel like my mom needs it more so I’m saving it for her. She walks at least 10 kilometres almost every day of the week and her feet get achy so she could definitely use some TLC. If nothing else it’ll give her a reason to put her feet up for a little bit.

Molton Brown Bath and Shower Gel — Relaxing Ylang-Ylang 100ml ($6)

“Slip into the ultimate relaxing bathing experience with this body wash, flourishing with rich ylang-ylang, exuberant jasmine and comforting vanilla-musk. Top notes of tangerine, cardamom and ginger. A heart of ylang-ylang and jasmine. A base of vanilla, cedarwood and musk.”

Lookfantastic included a surprise bonus product in November’s box and this was one of three subscribers could receive (the others were a cuticle oil and a treatment for split ends). I love a good shower gel and while this scent isn’t my favourite from Molton Brown, it still feels luxurious.

PRAI Ageless Throat & Decolletage Cream ($7)

“Our #1 bestselling product is your secret to a firmer, smoother, younger-looking neck and decolletage. A rich, luxurious creme featuring our unique Sepilift™ technology and Hyaluronic Acid to dramatically lift and tighten sagging skin, diminish fine lines and crepiness – with visible results in just 7 days! “

I love that Lookfantastic included a product specifically targeting the neck and decolletage as it’s one of my top areas of concern beauty-wise. (Why whhhhhhhhy didn’t I take care of my neck?) I’ve been using a silicone neck patch a couple of times a week and find that’s really made a difference in diminishing my lines but I’m here for any reinforcements! 🙋‍♀️ Have you tried the PRAI?

Comfort Zone Renight Cream 30ml ($50)

“A nourishing vitamin face cream for use at night that features a rich formula. It’s formulated with certified organic goji berry oil, hydrolyzed tomato extract and hyaluronic acid. Skin is left nourished, soft and relaxed with a pleasant scent, too.”

I’m reluctant to use cream formulas on my face for fear of breaking out so I’ve been using this one on my hands before bed and it feels so, so luxurious and makes my skin feel dramatically softer straight away. Such a treat!

Balance Me BHA Exfoliating Concentrate ($14)

“Our salicylic acid-rich concentrate is a leave-on chemical exfoliant, created to help gently remove dead skin cells, reduce blemishes, target enlarged pores, and improve hydration to reveal a softer, brighter, more youthful-looking complexion.”

Balance Me makes one of my favourite face mists (the Hyaluronic Plumping Mist) so I was happy to see another product from the brand. This one you wipe over clean skin with a soft pad and leave on to work its magic (no need to rinse off). I’ve only tried it a few times and I think my skin looks a little brighter but it’s early days so hard to say. I do like the formula. As infomercial guru Ron Popeil would say, “set it and forget it.”

Diego Dalla Palma High Precision Long Lasting Water Resistant Brow Pencil ($12.25)

“Easily enhance your arches with the tool’s extra fine tip that gives you both precision and natural coverage when filling, defining and shaping. The creamy formula boasts an incredibly blendable finish while being impressively long-wearing thanks to its transfer-resistant, water and sweat-resistant staying power. Use the pencil to create soft hair-like strokes and conceal sparse areas for a finish that’s fuller, thicker and more defined.”

The full-size version of this product is a long stick with a skinny twist-up pencil on one side and a spoolie to brush your brows on the other so quite different from this sample size. It’s considerably darker than brow products I like to use so I haven’t tried it (I’d rather give it to someone who will enjoy it) but some reviewers have said it’s a much harder, less blendable pencil than the softer, full-sized one. If that’s true this isn’t so much a sample as it is a different product altogether. Which is fine if it works for you but the colour made it a no-go for me.

Self-care goes out the window for so many of us this time of year and then we wonder why we feel so frazzled. Not everyone has the time or the opportunity to soak in the tub for a half hour but taking even just a couple of minutes to slather on a luxurious night cream (or hand cream in my case) or put your feet up with a foot mask can make such a difference, physically and mentally. November’s Lookfantastic Beauty Box is wonderful for that — any one of the products inside can be a quick pick-me-up and the sizes provide enough product to carry you through ’til December’s box arrives. A great gift idea for beauty lovers of any vintage!
