Merkaela is a seasonal subscription box that aims to make your self-care & spiritual practice easy to experience. They kindly sent us this box for review.
Each quarter they delivered a beautifully curated collection of their all-natural health and wellness products that are made on-site with ingredients you can pronounce and know. They are made with you in mind and formulated to nourish your body, your mind and your spirit.
Each collection is built on a theme and includes wellness products, thought-provoking content and music — everything you need to be on your way to a holistic approach to a clear mind, body and spirit.
Merkaela committed to sustainability and craft all of their products responsibly. This means they minimize their carbon footprint by making eco-friendly and recyclable packaging choices for their products and for shipping materials, they ethically source their product ingredients from all over the world and they also donate a percentage of their proceeds to water infrastructure and environmental programs.
Subscription Details
There are several subscription options with differing budgets in mind:
Soap Box: $18/quarter Every quarter you will receive a selection of handmade soaps that will support your wholistic lifestyle. All soap bars are made in small batches with organic oils infused with herbal botanicals and essential oils.
Essentials Box & Essentials Vegan Box: $35/quarter or $128/annually The Essentials Box contains 3-5 items and supports your meditation practice.
Deluxe Box & Deluxe Vegan Box: $65/quarter or $240/annually The Deluxe Box contains 6-9 items and includes products for both your self-care rituals and meditation practice.
Shipping is not included and is an additional charge. Shipping to Hawaii and Alaska is an additional $10 and to Canada is and additional $20 to cover the extra shipping costs. Current quarterly subscriptions ship in March, June, September & December. New subscribers will be shipped the current box (if it’s not sold out) with in a week of subscribing.

Here’s a look at what’s in the summer Merkaela box:
Box Insert
The Merkaela box insert is always so helpful and informational. In the included envelope is the insert itself which shares the theme, an inspiring quote related to the theme, product names, product usage and information, product pricing, an affirmation and a link to the seasonal meditation. The envelope also includes a card that has the link to the meditation on it as well as a little wallet sized card with the affirmation on it too, which this season is: “I am free to listen to my heart’s desires. To choose the direction of my thoughts and create the life I want to live. I am living the life of my dreams.”
SACRED WHITE SAGE ($6.00)

I had yet to uncover my stash of sage after we moved into our new home and have really been wanting to sage the new space so this is perfect. This sage is so aromatic, very grounding and clearing. I appreciate that it comes with the feather and best use instructions. I will be clearing any past negative energies from this home in no time.
LUMINOUS EXFOLIATOR ($15.00)
“Unclog pores and get rid of dead skin to confidently reveal luminous skin. The action of exfoliating boosts blood circulation and assists with lymph node drainage. The negative ions from the minerals and the aromatherapy uplift the mood. These combine to naturally align the energy center while detoxing impurities from the skin.”
This exfoliator smells so lovely. It’s aroma comes from geranium oil, but to me it smells just a hint sweeter or nuttier, softening the edges of the crisp geranium scent. I would likely use this product as a body exfoliator as the salt crystals are a bit larger than I prefer to use on my face, but I’m sure it could feel nice there too. I like the idea that it assists with lymph drainage which encourages me even more to use it as a body scrub too.
STARDUST CLAY MASK ($18.00)

This is such a beautifully colored face mask. Such a vibrant pink/red earthy hue. If I’m not mistaken, I think this is a product I’ve received from them before, but that’s ok as I love face masks and can never have enough. Plus it’s been a long time since the original, just wanted to note that from time to time you may see a repeat item. Anyway, this mask is made from simple ingredients and is simple to use, the best kind of mask there is. And I just love the name “Stardust” – so fun!
COOLING HERBAL TEA ($8.50)
“Enjoy a refreshing cup of tea filled with wellness benefits. The Cooling Herbal Tea calms the emotions, relaxes the body, and centers the mind. A warm cup right before a meditation practice makes for a richer experience. Alternatively, this full-body tonic soothes stomach aches, relieves headaches, and alleviates coughs.”
The best and only kind of tea for hot summer days! Of course, even when made hot the herbs can provide a cooling effect, but this might be nice iced too. It’s made with spearmint, rosemary, lemon balm, linden, eucalyptus, wood betony, blackberry leaf and eleuthero root. It smells so good I can’t wait to make up a refreshing cup. Also, I’ve had a minor cold so I’m intrigued to see if this helps the symptoms like it says it does too.
BLACK PANTHER HANDMADE SOAP ($9.50)
“Experience the Great North Woods with the aroma blend of Pine Needles, Cloves, and Bamboo Charcoal. The Black Panther soap absorbs, draws out oils and impurities from the skin. The Bamboo activated charcoal makes this bar soap an excellent choice as a facial cleanser and a popular go-to for the bath or shower.”
I always love they soaps they send and this one might be one of my faves yet. I mean first of all, the name is amazing and it has a scent to match. It’s earthy, spicy and mysterious, just like the namesake cat. I like that this one is multi-purpose and can be used for face or body. I’ll probably use for a body bar, but I do often use an activated charcoal soap for my face wash, so maybe I’ll try both.
GOLDEN LIQUID BODY OIL PALMAROSA ($48.00)
“Beneficial to all skin types promoting skin hydration and new cell growth. Apply to the face and body to improve problematic skin. Use the golden liquid on stretch marks, acne, blemishes, promoting cell repair, dry skin, keeping infections at bay, mild burns, eczema flare-ups, sunburn, rashes, bruises, and insect bites. The Calendula herbal extract-infused oils such as Jojoba, and Moringa; will further deepen your botanical experience. Providing the body with hydrating nourishment and essential nutrients it craves at the deepest levels.”
Oh my, this body oil smells good! I didn’t know I loved the palmarosa aroma so much, but I just cannot stop smelling this oil. It smells floral, but earthy and crisp, a very unique scent. I keep thinking of a desert flower when I smell it, not sure why, but maybe that helps describe it? Anyway, I love body oils and this has fast become my new favorite and the ‘Golden Hour’ name is just made for these warm late summer days. I will be applying this daily until the last drop I’m sure.
Merkaela Deluxe Box Review Summer 2021 – Final Thoughts
They just really know how to craft lovely products over there at Merkaela. Every single box I get from them is packed with products that have perfect scent profiles and product uses. Each delight the senses and the body, making for an overall positive wellness experience. This month’s selection was fantastic as always, with a few skin and body products, along with a few multi-use products and of course the quarterly tea. Each item feels perfect for summer skin and has those warm, relaxing, restful late summer vibes. I can’t wait to try them all as well as pair them with the provided meditations and playlists that I’m sure are perfect for the summer mindset too. I don’t ever want summer to end and am sure that this curation will keep it going in my mind for months to come.
