September Box Details

September is like the Sunday of summer, a month when you should leave the holiday blues behind, dust off your long jeans and tend to your dry sun-kissed skin and care-thirsty hair.

I love the thought that this month is like “the Sunday of Summer”. Since Sunday’s have come to be known as the self-care day it feels like this month would be a good time to refocus on that, especially with the changing of seasons. I think self-care can mean many different things: from relaxing, tending to neglected skin or hair, or creating new makeup looks. The items in this month’s Nourish Beauty Box are perfect for any of those ideas and will help in creating a thoughtful self-care ritual.

Here’s a look at what was in this month’s Nourish Beauty Box ($82.99 Total Value):

Nourish Naturals Cocoa Glaze in “Trance” ($16)

A gorgeously tinted lip gloss that helps heal chapped lips using plant oils, cocoa & shea butters, plus vitamin E, while delivering intense hydration and soft, subtle color with one swipe.

I’ve received a few other similar lip glosses like this one in boxes past. They weren’t the same color but it’s a very similar product. Luckily I like lip glosses so it’s fun to gather a collection of them. The color of this one is great for fall as it’s a warm neutral color, toned down for cooler weather. The only thing I don’t love about this product is it has added fragrance and I don’t really like the smell- fruity maybe? Other than that it seems like a nice product. It has great moisturizing ingredients and doesn’t feel sticky.

Seraphine Botanicals Luna Liner ($18)

Equipped with a micro brush tip, this water-resistant eye liner glides on smoothly, dispensing just the right amount of dark liquid.

Liquid eyeliner is my go-to type of eyeliner so I was glad to find this product in the box. It has a soft felt tip that product easily glides out of. The tip isn’t as fine of a point as some I’ve used before so that’s a small downside, but it is really easy to use. It’s the perfect black color that has a hint of sheen but has no shimmer. It says it’s water resistant (which I haven’t tested out) but I’m intrigued by that and find that to be a plus if it’s true! I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of this product.

Wyldflower Labs Hawaiian Black Lava Salt Hair Masque ($32.99)

Created with responsibly sourced Hawaiian black lava, sea salt and bentonite clay to give hair a natural, bouncy texture. Apply it on wet hair and leave it on for 10 minutes before shampoo wash.

I’ve only ever tried a few hair masks as it’s not always something I think of needing, but since I dye my hair I’m sure it could use some extra TLC. I was glad to find this product in the box as a reminder to take better care of my hair. This mask is intended to cleanse and nourish hair. The black lava, sea salt and bentonite clay will help cleanse and remove buildup; avocado, safflower, grape seed, soy and flax seed oils will hydrate; and extracts of lettuce, cucumber, linden flower and sage provide antioxidants and moisture to protect and heal. It smells nice and lightly earthy too. It sounds easy to use by applying to hair after shampooing, leaving set for 10 minutes and then just rinsing. The only downside is that the container doesn’t seem that full so is maybe only enough for one treatment.

Peony Cosmetics Butterfly Butter ($16)

Squeeze out a pea sized amount onto your ring finger and gently massage over lips to enjoy the benefits of this butterfly bush, noni and hibiscus-powered lip scrub.

Lip scrubs are a must for me year round, but especially in the colder months when my lips tend to get dryer and a bit flakey so this is a great product to receive. I like how it comes in a tube so it’s easy to dispense the right amount and isn’t messy. It has a light grainy texture and smells a bit fruity. It’s made with really hydrating ingredients like shea butter and avocado oil to leave lips moisturized after sloughing away dead skin. I will get a lot of use out of this product as well.

Nourish Beauty Box Review September 2019 – Final Thoughts

Three out of the 4 products in this month’s Nourish Beauty Box were great finds! I like the lip gloss too, especially the color of it, but I just don’t love the added fragrance so I’m not sure how much I’ll use it. I’m especially excited to try the hair masque and the lip scrub to see how well they work. They eyeliner is great and I’ll be curious to see how it holds up too. This beauty box is interesting because many of the same brands are repeated each month so you’d think it would feel too repetitive but they always surprise me with new types of products. Even when similar products do come (like the lipgloss) they make sure the color isn’t too similar and matches the season we’re in. Overall, another great selection this month!
