Their plant-based soups and grain bowls are filling, ready-to-eat and loaded with veggies. They help boost nutritional intake, and curb afternoon snacking.

March Box Contents

Each month I’ll share the list of every item that came in the box and will choose a few to give a more in depth review on. This month my week’s worth of meals consisted of:

  • Cacao Almond Smoothie
  • Mango Guava Smoothie
  • Orange Hibiscus Smoothie
  • Green Matcha Smoothie
  • Strawberry Goji Smoothie
  • Vegan Meatballs & Marinara Noodles
  • Creamy Mushroom & Spinach Pasta
  • Roasted Cauliflower Bowl
  • Vegetable Bolognese Bowl
  • Brown Rice Taco Bowl
  • Detox Shot
  • Digestion Shot
  • Wellness Shot

Here’s a closer look at a few items from this month’s box:

Vegan Meatballs & Marinara Noodles

“Savory and protein-packed vegan meatballs on top of a rich marinara sauce. PUMPKIN SEEDS: Full of heart-healthy magnesium; SPINACH: Popeye’s fave is loaded with iron and folic acid; TOMATOES: Loaded with lycopene for disease resistance.”

Ingredients: tomatoes (tomatoes, tomato juice, salt, basil), rice noodles (water, rice flour, canola oil), Dr. Praeger’s vegan meatballs (hydrated, texturized vegetable protein (water, soy protein concentrate), onions, expeller pressed canola oil, brown rice flour, arrowroot, parsley, natural flavors, fruit juice (color), basil, methyl cellulose, sea salt, spices, olive oil), spinach, pumpkin seeds, olive oil, onion, hemp seeds, garlic, salt, nutritional yeast (dried yeast, niacin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, thiamin hydrochloride, riboflavin, folic acid, cyanocobalamin), spices

Spaghetti is my hands-down favorite food so I was so excited to see this as one of their brand new noodle bowl flavors and was doubly excited to find it in my delivery this month. The sauce is delicious. It’s the perfect marinara with balanced garlic, tomato, onion and spices flavors. It’s not at all runny, or soupy either. I like that they added pumpkin seeds to the sauce too for a nice subtle texture addition. The noodles are a hint chewy, and I like them even though they aren’t the traditional spaghetti style. The noodles come with 2 “meatballs” that are actually really good for being non-meat. The texture is good, much like a regular meatball, but of course just slightly different. They have a mild flavor that’s a little vegetable-y. For me, the meatball flavor doesn’t completely match regular meatballs, but surprisingly good for not being meat. I guess I wouldn’t immediately say that meatball isn’t meat, it’s just a more mild and less rich and fatty flavor. If you’re vegan this bowl is a great sub for traditional spaghetti and meatballs! Will definitely order this one again!

Green Matcha Smoothie

“Clean energy without the crash. Meet your perfect matcha. AVOCADO: Helps kidneys keep the body detoxed; MATCHA: Ignites metabolism with clean caffeine; SPIRULINA: Jumpstarts endurance.”

Ingredient list: purified water, bananas, avocados, organic lemon juice, organic date puree, organic hemp protein, organic vanilla powder, organic matcha powder, organic spirulina

This is delicious! It might look intimidating with it’s green color but does not at all taste like most green smoothies. This one has a smooth and almost sweet flavor, with maybe a hint of nuttiness? The texture is mild, somewhere between thick and thin, and it doesn’t have any crunchiness or seeds. I really like this one, it’s pleasant, refreshing and easy to drink.

Wellness Shot Trio

“Immune-boosting shots that provide a quick and easy dose of nutrients. Ideal for on-the-go.”

I was lucky enough to receive all three of their wellness shots in this month’s box! I’ve actually reviewed them all before on previous posts, but thought I’d give a quick recap here in case you missed any of those.

The Immunity shot is actually really good, but strong sour and very gingery so there’s a good kick of spicy heat. Love that these are not only good for immunity, but also help with digestion too.

The Detox shot is so tasty! It’s tart, but the sourness is matched with a hint of sweetness so it’s easy to sip or to take down in one gulp. This one is awesome for helping to aid digestion, improve skin condition, balance gut bacteria and flush out toxins.

The Digestions shot is also really delightful! It’s mild but has a warming kick from the cayenne and vinegar. I love that the others assist with digestion, but that this one is specifically made for it.

Splendid Spoon Review March 2020 – Final Thoughts

I loved this month’s Splendid Spoon box! Mostly because they sent their new noodle bowls, which included the Creamy Mushroom & Spinach Pasta and the Vegan Meatballs & Marinara Noodles. I love spaghetti so much I could eat it every day so this was the perfect bowl for me and I was so excited to find it this month. I also love the variety of smoothies they included. Each of them are one’s I’ve tried previously, but are all so tasty I’m glad to see them again. Lastly, I was really excited to find the Wellness Shot trio in this month’s box as they are all delicious and such a fun extra treat to receive. As usual, Splendid Spoon really keeps me sane during the week for lunch prep so I’m always so thankful when a delivery, especially one this good, shows up on my doorstep!
