Super Chewer Reviews 2024 – BarkBox for Dogs Who Chew

March 2024 Super Chewer Grocery box

Do you have a toy shredder in your house?  A tough chewer that ruins every cute plushie toy you’ve ever brought home?  I feel you!  If you’re tired of spending money on toys that won’t last more than 3 minutes, the Super Chewer subscription box may just be your answer.

Our Golden Retriever Rudy looks sweet and innocent, but if there’s stuffing or fabric of any kind involved – he thinks it’s his personal duty to destroy it.  That’s why I was really excited to review Super Chewer.

Rudy sniffing his Super Chewer box

This month, we received the Grocery themed box, and it was full of (hilarious) heavy-duty toys and tasty treats!

If you’ve tried other subscription boxes that didn’t work out for your furry friend, stick around – Rudy and I are breaking it all down for you so you can decide if Super Chewer boxes are the right fit for your love-to-chew pup.

What is Super Chewer and How does it work?

Super Chewer from the makers of BarkBox is a monthly subscription box for dogs who love to chew.  Each month heavy chewers receive a box of tough stuff – extra durable dog toys and high-quality, natural treats, all revolving around a super fun theme.

The themes are incredibly unique and a lot of fun for both dogs and their humans! As dog owners, we love to see the excitement in our pup – but the themes make it extra fun for us too.

Each month, the Super Chewer box comes with 2 new toys made tougher -as well as 2 full-sized bags of treats.

Pet owners fill out a simple questionnaire when signing up so they can take advantage of their customization options to avoid any allergy or dietary restrictions.

Boxes are also curated around your dog’s size – so it doesn’t matter if you have a pack of large dogs or a small dog, they’ll make sure the themed toys and quality treats are just right for your pup.

And don’t worry, you’re not going to receive any plush toys that your aggressive chewer will destroy in seconds. The toys they feature are made of solid nylon, natural rubber, or super tough reinforced fabric that’s fluff-free for tough play.

The treats they feature are made with natural ingredients and come in many varieties. From crunchy training treats, meatless fruit options, or jerky-like chew sticks, they’re always mixing it up and keeping it interesting.

Unboxing the 2024 Grocery Box

Rudy and I had so much fun opening our first Super Chewer box! The Grocery theme was one of their many fun themes and it did not disappoint. It was clear there were some scented toys inside because he immediately, intensely, sniffed the unopened box.  He was ready to play!

Inside was a neat box insert that looked like a grocery store.  The insert continued down into the box making it an immersive experience. It was very creative and really brought the theme to life!

Here’s a closer look at what we received…

This box had extra toys and extra treats because it was a double-stuffed box. This is a special offer that Super Chewer offers for new customers who join on a 6-month or 12-month subscription. If you want to get your first box double stuffed like this, you can claim yours here.

Starting with the new toys, here’s what was in our Super Chewer Grocery box:

Tomatoe Soup Dog Toy

Tomatoe Soup – This is made with reinforced fabric so it’s extra tough, and it has a rubber core.  Inside is a rubber spiky ball that has a squeaker layered in for extra fun gnawing and fetching.  I love how this toy is multi-layered, so when Rudy tears away all the tough fabric, he’ll have a spiky ball treat to find as his reward.  This toy is totally fluff free making it a much safer option for chewers than regular plush toys.

ball pepper and asparagus dog toy

Ball Pepper – Made of all natural rubber, it’s tough!  There’s a squeaker inside, but it’s so tough I couldn’t squeak it with just my hands. That’s how you know it’s extra durable and will provide hours of challenging chewing. It’s shaped in such a way that’ll make it fun to toss, spin, and roll for a variety of wacky movements.  It’s also scented of beef! With non-allergenic oils.

Aspupagus – How hilarious is this? My husband’s exact words when he walked in and saw me holding it up were, “Oh HELL-O!” I died.  Bark definitely isn’t afraid to push the limits of creativity and humor. It’s part of what makes the experience so fun. This toy is made of nylon and features a variety of textures and chew points for a more satisfying grab, grip, and chew (that’s what she said)

ham bone and ball pepper dog toys

Ham Bone – another favorite for Rudy, this is also made of rubber with a squeaker inside.  He prefers this more cone shape to play his own game of fetch – up and down the hall.  It’s bacon scented, so that might play a part in it!

All of the toys included are clearly high-quality, durable toys – your tough chewing dog is about to finally meet their match!

We also received 4 full-sized bags of treats and one sample bag in our first box.  The Super Chewer treats are made with natural ingredients and of course, came with on-theme names for the extra laugh.

Bark Dog Treats

Porky Jerky Trainers – we got one bag of these chewy jerky minis. They’re made with pork and without any artificial flavors or grain fillers. Rudy gets frantically excited when I pull out this bag. He looooves them.

Fruity Booty – we got one bag of this which is a soft baked treat with mixed berries. It’s a meat free, vegetarian option made with blueberry, cranberry, raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry.  It’s almost like a mix between a fruit leather and cereal bar.  It’s made with wholesome grains like whole wheat and barley. This was a 4 oz bag and they were made in the USA.

Bark Treats Fuddy Nutty Treats from BarkBox

Fuddy Nuttys – we got two bags of this crunchy treat that’s made with whole wheat, and barley, and flavored with natural peanut butter and real honey. These were medium sized cereal rounds which are perfect for treat training or to leave out in a treat jar.  Each bag was 4 ounces and they were made in the USA as well.

Frosted Socks Treats by Bark box

Frosted Socks – I thought this sample bag of treats was hilarious! Rudy is a chronic sock eater so I loved this play on our favorite childhood cereal. These treats looked like they were soft baked, but they had a little crunch to them – almost like a mini frosted cookie. They’re made with real fruit and yogurt and contain no corn, soy, or artificial preservatives. Super Chewer knows its audience because the only thing dogs love more than socks are FROSTED socks, right Rudy?  This was a 1 oz sample size.

Quality and Variety of Products

I’m extremely impressed with the quality of Super Chewer dog toys and with the treats we received in the March Grocery box. We’re both excited to see the next batch of tough toys that come in future boxes.

I love that they include a variety of toys that stimulate dogs in different ways, and create lots of different opportunities for play.  Sometimes it feels like we’re limited in the kinds of toys we can buy for our heavy chewers, but Super Chewer understands the need for diversity and does a great job of keeping things creative and meeting different sensory needs for our tough chewing pups.

Super Chewer Subscription Plans and Pricing

There are several different subscription options available for the Super Chewer box.  Subscriptions start at $24 per month, plus $4.99 shipping to the US.  You can elect to sign up for a month-to-month subscription, a 6-month, or a 12-month subscription. The longer term you choose, the lower the monthly price.

Super Chewer pricing

Subscriptions renew every month for the term of the subscription. Month-to-month subscriptions can be canceled at any time if you just want to try it for a couple months.

I think it’s great that they offer commitment terms that are billed monthly.  It makes it very affordable.

For $24-$39 per month, this monthly subscription service is a great value!

Pros and Cons of Super Chewer

So how do you know if Super Chewer is right for you and your pup?  Here are a few things to keep in mind.

Pros of Super Chewer:

  • The Super Chewer toys are TOUGH!  If your dog is prone to destroying toys – put them to the test, they’re truly up for the challenge!
  • The toys are safe. You don’t have to worry about your dog breaking their teeth or swallowing fluff.
  • It’s a fun box to open for both dogs and dog parents – not a whole lot beats seeing your pup excited and they just seem to innately know it’s for them.
  • The variety of toys that they include each month keeps things interesting. You don’t have to worry about shopping for new toys or trying to find something different for your heavy chewer.
  • The treats are made with natural ingredients so you know that you’re giving your dog good for them options.  We’re very careful about what we give our dogs for food, the same should be true of the treats we give them. With Super Chewer you can trust that they’re getting high-quality ingredients without all the junk.
  • The subscription plans are flexible and affordable for every budget.
  • Shipping is super fast!  Our Super Chewer box was delivered within just a few days of the order being placed.  After the first box, subscriptions are delivered monthly.
  • The themes are AMAZING.  Seriously – it’s worth trying it for a month just to experience it.  I mean, is there anything funnier than your dog walking around with an aspupagus?
  • Monthly deliveries are really convenient. I love that I don’t have to go to the store or spend a ton of time searching online for new toys.

Cons of Super Chewer:

  • Shipping isn’t free – we’re so spoiled with free shipping, but the shipping is still low cost considering the size of the box that you’ll get!
  • Toys may be too tough for some dogs.  If your dog isn’t a heavy chewer, you might consider the regular BarkBox for softer toys.
  • If you don’t love having a lot of toys lying around, and your pup doesn’t wear through them, you might need to get a bigger toy box or have a plan to pass them along. With a 12-month subscription, you’ll end up with at least 24 toys!

Is the Super Chewer 2024 Grocery Box Worth It?

Put it this way, tough toys aren’t cheap. If your dog is chewing through a lot of toys that you’re continually replacing, Super Chewer is a much better value.

If you buy 2 durable toys and 2 bags of treats made with high-quality ingredients – you’ll easily spend over $24, and that doesn’t even factor in the gas to get to the pet store and the risk of buying a toy that your dog actually CAN destroy.

Knowing you’re going to get high-quality, heavy-duty toys each month makes it not just a good idea, but a good value too.

Also, there’s something special about seeing your dog’s eyes light up every month when the box arrives! That’s priceless.

Who is Super Chewer For?

Super Chewer is perfect for dogs who like to chew and their humans who are tired of buying toys that are destroyed within minutes!

Also, it’s for dog owners who appreciate high-quality ingredients, durable toys, and the convenience of monthly deliveries. Bonus points if you have a sense of humor and like to laugh at the ridiculous toys that your pet will be playing with for months to come! They’re definitely conversation starters.

Who is Super Chewer Not For

If your dog isn’t a heavy chewer and doesn’t typically shred or destroy their toys, then Super Chewer is likely not the right fit for you.

When I say these toys are tough, they really are. If your pup doesn’t need that type of toughness, then I’d recommend checking out their other subscription, BarkBox. That’s a great option for non-chewy dogs.

How to Subscribe to Super Chewer

Signing up for Super Chewer is really easy, you’ll fill out a survey about your dog and create an account. From there, you can pick between the various subscription plans.

They have month-to-month subscriptions, a 6-month plan, or a 12-month annual plan. The longer term you choose, the lower the monthly price.  Knowing that the value is worth the price, I’d recommend opting for the longer term plans to save money and for an even greater value.

Do You Have a Super Chewer Coupon?

Super Chewer is really generous in the promotions that they offer for first time customers. You can get an extra box for absolutely FREE when you sign up for a 6 or 12 month plan here

Super Chewer Final Thoughts

Super Chewer was so much fun for both Rudy and I to receive.  I think it’s hilarious every time I catch him gnawing on his ham bone or “can” of tomatoe soup. It’s created hours and hours of play for him and I know there’s lots more fun to come!
