Color-Block Art Weaving

“Take some time to enjoy the crafting process as you learn new weaving techniques and create a geometric wall hanging. Annie-France Bowker, the artist and designer behind WOVVVEN, takes you through every step, from assembling and warping the handmade loom to sewing the slits and creating a polished finished piece.”

Such a fun kit! I have long admired these woven wall tapestry hangings and think they are so cute. Can’t wait to make my own!

Let’s take a closer look at everything included in this kit:

Project Card

Each The Crafter’s Box contains a folded card describing the project and introducing the maker. It also lists all the materials inside the box, and any additional materials to have at home if needed.

Handmade Maple Travel Loom

This loom is crafted by local Sam Diego woodworkers. It is super easy to put together or take apart. I love this for ease of storage!

Plywood Shuttle and Birch Dowel

Included as part of the loom kit is a handmade plywood shuttle to wrap your yarn around. There is also a birch dowel rod that will be used to hang your finished woven piece from.

Warp Thread, Cotton Macrame Cord, Weaving Needle

The other tools included in this kit are some cotton thread to warp your loom with, a long weaving needle, and some beige macrame cord for the finishing touches on your wall hanging. This cotton warp thread is chosen for its strength and smoothness.

100% Cotton Yarn

Four balls of 100% cotton yarn are included. Not a colour combo I would have come up with on my own, but seeing these colours together, I absolutely love it!

Color-Blocked Weaving Pattern

Last but not least, a pattern for the project is included. It’s so helpful to have how the entire thing comes together visualized.

Final Thoughts

I am so excited for this project! This is a craft I have long wanted to try but just never had the time to research tools and buy the materials myself. Having everything included in a kit is so helpful. The instructional video is really easy to follow and has so many helpful tips. Now that I have the necessary tools, I can’t wait to dig into my yarn stash to come up with other colour combos. For a crafting enthusiast like me, The Crafter’s Box is such a great subscription to try out different crafts.
