Vellabox Review May 2024

Vellabox Subscription Details

Vellabox offers three different subscription options:

• The Lucerna Box · One 4 oz candle (25+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $12/month
• The Ignis Box · One 8 oz candle (50+ hours burn time) + one surprise gift from $22/month
• The Vivere Box (that’s mine!) · One 16 oz candle (80+ hours total burn time) + one surprise gift from $29/month

All of the candles are Artisan made in small batches with natural ingredients, including 100% natural wax, cotton wicks, and phthalate-free scents – so you can breathe easy. Because they’re Artisan made, you can discover a new small brand with every box.

You’ll take a questionnaire when you first sign up where you’ll indicate your favorite scents. Vellabox will use this info to make sure you’re getting the scent profiles you love most.

Monthly, 6-month and 12-month subscriptions are available. Shipping is free on all US orders and shipping to Canada is $5/shipment.

Unboxing the May 2024 Vellabox

The vibe of the May Vellabox was so calming and serene. From the tranquil teal colors to the label of the candle, and through the surprise bonus item. If “living blissfully” was their MO they nailed it!  They always include a label on the inside of the box to set the tone for the month. I love this reminder of all the places we can choose to let peace reside.

 

As if getting a new candle in a unique, fabulous new scent each month isn’t enough, Vellabox always includes a surprise bonus item in each delivery. May’s surprise item was their new Lavender Silk Fragrance Roll On ($22 value).  Apply it as you would perfume or cologne to your pulse points – temples, wrists, neck, and behind the ears. It can be reapplied as often as you’d like.  It smells absolutely amazing – with notes of lavender, wild herbs, violet, cedar leaf, camphor and eucalyptus. To me, it has a sweet, non-earthy smell. I think it’s lovely.

 

One of my other favorite surprise perks of Vellabox is that on the back of the product card, there’s always a link to a curated Spotify playlist for the month.  May is titled, “Soft Life” and it’s a soundtrack that cultivates a lifestyle where self-care, simplicity, and finding joy in the little things are paramount. A nice invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and immerse yourself in the blissful pursuit of a life lived softly.

I always listen to my Vellabox playlist when I’m writing reviews or filming content for the month – and it’s such a fun way to experience all kinds of different music. They do a great job curating the lists each month around the theme!

 

For May, there are three different scent options to choose from, or you can choose to be surprised!  The options are:

• No. 007 – Citrus & Hinoki | For fans of Citrus: Yuzu, Bergamot, Tangerine, Passion Fruit, Guava, Hinoki, Apricot Wood.

• No. 002 – Mulholland Drive | For fans of Sweet/Spice + Woodsy: Mandarin, Cardamom, Smoke, Peony, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Cedar.

• No. 009 – Les Fleurs | For fans of Floral: Black Currant, Peppercorn, White Rose, Geranium, Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Musk.

 

I can never choose between the scent options so I let them choose for me each month and I love unboxing the surprise!  This month Vellabox sent me, “no. 007: Citrus & Hinoki” and it might be my favorite scent to date! It has a fresh, fruity scent that’s not too sweet, but definitely reminds me of sipping summer cocktails by the pool.  I absolutely love it and wish I could smell the other scents too, because I’m sure they’re all really special.

Each month Vellabox partners with a different candle maker to create their 3 scent options. This month, all the May candles are made by Rose West Studio based out of Los Angeles, CA.  Inspired by curiosity and driven by their community, their studio is a place where scent is transformative and your experience is immersive.  Each item they produce is thoughtfully and carefully handcrafted in small batches.

It’s so fun to learn about all the different small-batch makers through Vellabox. There are so many incredible artisans in this world!
